Now you hail a baht bus going to Jomtien, you are the only one in it.

Just after  that overhead bridge up the hill  going ( don't know the name) but has small soccer sports court under it.

The bus stops for 6 indian guys , they talk to him and jump in the back.

He jumps out and approaches you as you sit in the back and  says they are going in a different direction and tells you to pay 10b for that short ride, and can catch another one.

Do you pay the 10 baht and jump out ?

I'd pay, but with a 1,000 baht bill.

I know how physically painful it is for lower-tier Thai people to have to make change and give up their precious smaller bills.

Seinfeld had a bit where a news stand made him buy more stuff to break a $20 bill. But if he had already started eating the candy bar.......

Making them break a grand for a 10 baht payoff would likely just get me waved off.

Uh, no. I'm not their perfect change-monkey.

Take a chance to get beat with a tire iron over 10 baht and 10 minutes of your time?  I don't think so.  Maybe happens once in six months if that.  Move on.,

Yup.  The days when 10 baht would have gotten you a room and a loose woman are long gone.

Good point...my 1st reaction was "no way" after a moments thought and envisioning him pulling out a tire iron from under the seat and him hitting me over the head and me getting charged for assaulting the driver.TIT pay up..

No, I wouldn't pay unless he got aggressive. I would ask how much the Indian guys were paying and maybe say to take it off their bill.

I am not a doormat, it's important to stand up for my rights and keep integrity.

I had a taxi driver hit me once in Nontaburi. I hit him back, instinctively and he then went back to his car and took out a tyre iron. He never used it and I felt great after it, and still tell the story 30 years later. It's not about the money.

10Bht you're hardly being stepped on.

Rights & integrity ~ do you realise how ridiculous that sounds for 10Bht!

This has happened to me and I just jumped out and walked off as we had not gone far.

Not to do with the money.

Agreeing to pay for something you don't get sounds ridiculous to me.

You're too considerate, and should keep 40 X 25 satang coins ready for events like this, lol.

It didn’t happen..

I suspect he was trying it on and worth him doing so as many have admitted they would pay.  If you had just shrugged your shoulders, smiled and walked away nothing would have happened.
