Emphasising tourism and local economy stimulation, the city of Pattaya has delineated its budget allocation for the upcoming fiscal year. Paramet Ngampichet, the Mayor of Pattaya City, announced the conclusion with the budget set to be effective from October 1.

In a recent meeting participated in by municipality executives, councillors, and local government entities, a resources allotment of 1.9 billion baht was agreed upon. From the total budget, 1.6 billion baht has been designated for fixed expenses that include payment of utility bills and salaries, leaving the remaining funds for investment and Pattaya developmental ventures.

According to Mayor Paramet, the priority for next year’s budget would be the revitalisation of the tourism sector, which has greatly suffered due to the pandemic, along with the stimulation of the local Pattaya economy.

A few initiatives are on the plan, like expanding tourism campaigns, which are the highlights of the region such as the fireworks festival and the Pattaya marathon. In an attempt to attract more affluent visitors to Pattaya, these will be supplemented with a jazz festival.

Very observant of you. When I first darkened these shores in 2004 they were working on Pattaya Beach Rd. A spin past the other day showed construction activity still. The gift that keeps on giving.

Another example is the useless low cement barriers on Thepprasit Rd.along with light standards. Installed by an uncle only to be removed by same in a couple years time. A big joke.

I'm no expert in city finances or budgeting but, for a city as big as Pattaya, ฿1.9 billion, or $60 million/£40 million, doesn't seem like an awful lot.

especially when 85% of it is earmarked for disbursements and salaries.

It's actually 8.5 million after deducting. Salaries, bills, etc.

That's not including whatever gets skimmed off by the rest of the mafia running the show.

A rather small firecracker.

Sex tourism is not in “hard “ demand these days. Pornography killed sex tourism.

To stimulate international tourism the best option is to have extended stay arrival stamps for perhaps 90 or 180 days for tourists from desired countries.  Make things easy for tourists.  That's out of Pattaya's control though.

Within Pattaya's control having lots of garbage bins along Pattaya and Jomtien Beach Roads combined with frequent garbage collection would be money well spent.  Rat eradication should also be a priority.

Whatever you guys do, don't fix any of the many problems, nor address the issues present long before Covid.

Just pretend everything can be addressed and fixed with a clever campaign, with a catchy name.

And some public toilets like they've got along Dongtan Beach.

But after all the salaries and other expenses are met ,  there is only around £1.4m to be spent on upgrades . . .

I agree! These are "one-off" events.

It is the general demeanour (image, presentation, law enforcement etc, etc,) of the City that needs lifting

Don't forget budget for billboards back in the UK (probably the #1 source of Pattaya tourists)...

SURE YOU ARE A LOSER HERE, BUT YOU CAN BE A WINNER IN PATTAYA

TaT could even give Pattaya a Trendy acronym, like WeHo means West Hollywood.

Like HoBchGolf.

Also for Patong beach...

JUST SAY PHUKET

(Because most British people don't know it's pronounced POO-ket and probably pronounce it FAA-ket) ????

Take the vendors and concrete posts carrying electric cables  off of the pavements / walkways then relay with non-slip paving .  In reality Pattaya is a xxxx hole that does not care for tourists but is interested in only how much money can be taken from them , be it corrupted police , lady boys , street vendors , bar girls , taxis , jet ski operators etc .

That boondoggle is gonna get people killed. Amazing the traffic patterns developing on the turn bouts already.

Socialism, Nepotism is alive and well in Pattaya even for a Mayor who ran and promise change for Pattaya.

Nothing has changed he has shown as I predicted to be the problem not the solution just like every Mayor before him.  He hasn't done anything except join the swamp which was his intent from the beginning.

Budget is 1.9 Billion,  and the fix expense is 1.6 B. for salaries that explains why nothing improves, why the pothole gets filled, why roads like Beach road is constant constructions as with other popular roads. Keep repetitive projects going since price is well known thus can gauge easily what to skim off the top a no brainer. ????

Just lurve the way these headline posts are running side by side!

"Pattaya allocates 1.9B Baht budget to Revitalise Tourism

Emphasising tourism and local economy stimulation, the city of Pattaya has delineated its budget allocation for the upcoming fiscal year."

"The travel industry is bracing itself for an exceptionally weak low season, with predictions of stagnant demand, escalating operational costs."

Like "Even more amazing Thailand"? Or "Amazing New Chapters"?

What about "Amazing New Driving Test"? Or "Amazing New Hassle Free Visas"? Or "Amazing New Corruption Free *****//==?

Maybe the pavements that have been up for about 4 years can finally be fixed now - more likely to break an ankle than enjoy a holiday in Pattaya as a family

Come with the baby in the pushchair and granddad in the wheelchair and you are well and truly up s creek
