Intoxicated British Man Beaten by Two Thai Men in Pattaya

Pattaya — A drunken British man was beaten by a group of Thai men in Pattaya for allegedly causing a nuisance and angering the Thai men at a local convenience store yesterday morning, September 3rd.

According to the store owner, Ms. Euaamporn Rattanamethakoson, 36, the British man, Mr. Elliott S., was making a nuisance of himself while heavily drunk and disrupted a group of young Thai men drinking at the store, causing the suspects to eventually lose their temper. As a result, the group beat the victim and escaped before Pattaya Police arrived.

 

The incident unfolded at about 5:10 AM on September 3rd at a local convenience shop in Soi Land Office, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

 

 

 

Police, The Pattaya News, and emergency responders were called to the scene and reported that the 35-year-old British national was heavily intoxicated and continuously shouting and cursing at them, challenging first responders to fights.

 

The authorities had to pacify the man before they could administer first aid to his injuries, which included lacerations on the head and eyebrows and a broken front tooth. They then rushed him to a local hospital.

 

According to the eyewitness and store owner, Ms. Euaamporn, she said that the British man entered her shop, seemingly heavily intoxicated, to buy ice. He then went to sit at the front of the shop near a group of Thai men who were drinking alcohol.

British Man Badly Bashed Up After Chatting Up A Girl

A BRITISH man was severely bashed up by two Thai youths in Chonburi province at dawn today (Sep. 3) after he chatted up a girl in a shop there, Amarin TV said.

 

The unidentified British man ended up with a swollen head, a broken nose and three teeth knocked out. He is now under close medical supervision as he has suffered cerebral haemorrhage.

 

A Pattaya police station team investigated the attack in Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, with a surveillance camera clip showing two Thai men attacking the Briton while one of the attacker’s girlfriend and her friend tried to stop them. Afterwards they hopped on their motorcycles and rode to a nearby apartment building.

Maybe he was giving the Thai guys trouble?

 

Maybe he stole from the store and abused the staff?

 

Maybe he was assaulting female customers as they went in or out of the store?

 

I'm a Brit and I can assure you that many cannot hold their booze and become downright obnoxious after a few. When they get to a free and easy place like Thailand they completely lose it.

 

A very intelligent and well-educated guy I worked with many years ago explained that you can reason with the vast majority of people that are mis-behaving, but there are a few that only understand one thing, and that is a smack in the mouth!

always be respectful but the drunk farang did not deserve a beating - If a drunk starts something at 5am I give them a drunks pardon, harmless, these 2 young thai men didn't need much to act the way they did - be under no illusion  - thais don't like us, we are in their country and they tolerate us to a point

As a Brit I am not going to defend a drunk Brit abroad. They are an embarrassment to themselves and the country they are from but I have seen many drunk Thais going around our village and they are dealt with so well by the locals in the main. These cowards really do hunt in packs don't they and worse still run when the Police arrive. Why I always stay armed with something in this country just in case some anti foreigner gang decides I am an easy target. Having said that this country is still way less violent than the UK. The UK is lost.

I've done my best as a person of average intelligence to try to answer your post the best I can with the information available.

 

I find you have granted yourself a lot of leeway interpreting what actually occurred without evidence.

 

What is apparent is the guy was heavily intoxicated.

 

However, for his trouble he now has a broken nose, he is minus three teeth and has a cerebral hemorrhage.  Is that adequate punishment for you?

 

Maybe, they could have allowed for the fact he was very drunk and done what they normally do with Thais in that condition and totally ignored him.

They would have given without a doubt far more leeway had it been one of their countrymen in that condition.

 

I have seen it and see it regularly.

 

He may have been a drunken clown, probably was, but the response seems way over the top, but it usually is in the likes of Pattaya and Phuket etc.

Thai men can’t handle their booze esp young ones and nor can some farrangs esp in Thailand. The Brit was maybe harmless but rude and drunk and maybe these Thais were so sensitive that that they had to batter the old Farrang. It’s their country so one shouldn’t take the piss out of the locals or cause trouble even if slight or harmless.. You can only get away with that as a foreigner in western style countries, even the local plod will take the foreigners  side against locals especially if the said local was of the privileged looking type.

The article stated that the Brit continued to be loud and disruptive, even wanting to fight the first responders, and it took the police to finally pacify him.

Just based on that, I'd say the original Thais must have been provoked and weren't looking for trouble.

Being a armed  dead drunk in Thailand sounds like a dissaster! If not drunk, no weapons needed anyplace in Thailand. The risk of being jumped on is almost zero, unless you are to stupid to understand whats going on around you. And if you live in a neighboorhood full of yaba heads, move!

I am not suggesting this fellow was anything less than a giant pain. That said, the level of beating put on him is out of proportion to the behavior. Wouldn’t you normally cut a drunk a bit of slack?  Is it my imagination or is this kind of thing happening more frequently now?
