How Many On Your "Ignored Users" List?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Let me start with this preface - Please to NOT post specific members, this isn't a hateful finger pointing exercise! I'm just curious about the number you have banned to the phantom zone.

I know one of the admins personally.  He told me years ago I should try not to put people on my ignore list; even the dregs can occasionally offer a valuable perspective.

I respected his opinion until recently when I put one member into Lala Land, and my forum experience has been MUCH more enjoyable ever since.  I guess he was the exception to that rule.

Your thoughts on the subject?

None....   its easy enough to just ignore a post if we don't wish to engage.    Someone was going on my ignore list the other day, then I couldn't be bothered and just ignored them.

Putting many people on ignore would indicate a snowflake, not being able to argue properly or taking alternate views.

I have 2 on ignore, one stalker and one who persists in putting the same very tedious signature after every short post

I don't ignore users if they have a different opinion, different opinions are good, we learn from each other.

I put users on that list if they are annoying and post a lot of annoying comments. Too much it too much.

And I ignore users who are not willing to accept facts. They often want to push their (political) agenda and no facts will ever convince them that they are not always right.

Seldom I look again at single posts from people who I have on my ignore list. In almost all cases just looking at one post is enough to confirm that there was a good reason that I put them on the list.

It would be wonderful the topics column on the right would not show threads which were started by ignored users. Some of them seem to start at least one new useless thread per day. Annoying!

I disagree. You can only argue properly if the other person is also willing and capable of doing that. And some people here are clearly not willing and/or capable of doing that.

Mainly those who insist on making personal insults.

Nearly all gone now though, only about 10 active posters on ignore.

Usually the mods removed the ones who can't stop insulting other members.

I also have a ZERO tolerance policy, stalking and insults I ALWAYS report.

Doesn't matter if it's aimed at me or any other poster, they will be reported.

No need for all the hate, it costs nothing to be polite.

Those who can't follow Community Standards need to be removed from the community!

Are there still signatures? I haven't seen any for months.

No. One or more members were sneaking in some messages against forum rules, so the feature had to be removed.

I have about 6 pages of people on my ignore list probably going back 10 years or more.

Sometimes I see the odd poster pop up but I suspect that many left when TVF went to ANN and perhaps some of them are/were coffin dodgers like me.

I am too old and too lazy to update the list.

Me, none................????

Never felt the need so far

Gave them all a reprieve, (7 or 8 pages worth), though slowly filling up my first page, as the chime in with their silly arguments or prejudice.

If I haven't responded to you ... yea, that's why.

i put the members signature on ignore but it didn't stop it so he went on ignore

None on my automated list, but several that I just don't respond to.  And read only their first sentence.

I miss the good ol' days when you could hover over the feedback emojis and know who posted them.  (or maybe that was a different forum?)

I took a 2 year +/- hiatus from TVF (AN) when I was a Covid refugee with no prospect of coming to Thailand.  Decided it didn't improve the quality of my life, especially with respect to time management and the number of brain cells I was losing reading all the gems.  Sadly, it's gotten even worse...

I would never ignore anyone who has opposing political, religious or lifestyle views - it helps to know your "enemy", or at least have a good laugh at them.  However I recently, for the first time in 15 years on the forum, put three tedious members on ignore.  No names, but I'm sure many can guess who they are.  I only wish the function carried over to blocking threads they start, or at least stopped them appearing on the thread list on the right of the screen.  I have no wish at all to read their threads or trolling posts.

Someone put me on ignore due to a misunderstanding and now I can't explain what happened to cause the misunderstanding. I don't have anyone on ignore.

The funniest for me is when someone wants the last word and states...  "You are going on my ignore list"... as if thats some kind of victory - the immaturity of that mindset is rather amusing.....

None.

Is this kindergarten?

One of the reasons I don't put people on the ignore list is that not doing so helps to notice how many delusional unhinged nutters there are around us...

Yup... I think its obvious to many who the fruitcakes are !!!...

Some are harmless and can be entertained... other are ridiculously pedantic but sometimes offer insight, others are just ridiculously bigoted and clearly live in a very different world, while others seem to live in a parallel universe...  big picture, all harmless and part of the colour of the forum.

And then there are those who will disagree and troll an individual for nothing other than personal reasons and want to take a 'pop'.... they are just scummy to$$ers.

I have 5 pages of posters on ignore.  This forum would be insufferable without the ignore function.

As a member I would dearly, dearly love to add a number of members to my ignore list (some of whom might be active in this thread) :whistling:

partially agree with you but the part of properly arguing is a no no, when starting or trying to start a conversation (let's call it argument) usually the opposite side after 2-3 exchanges starts the insults and I can't deal with this type of people, we only live once and I want to enjoy it to the max without having to deal with this type of people, thus my list it's much much longer  then yours 555

If you have 10 pages of people on your ignore list, maybe there's sth wrong with YOU.

Sorry b'out that... I'll try to behave !:hit-the-fan:

You can ignore people in a public setting but ignoring unknown persons on an otherwise anonymous internet forum seems all a bit strange. Unless the forum is where you spend too much a lot of time.

Like being outrageously thin skinned... the same characters probably go through life offended at everyone and upset by everything...

That said, there is the element of 'just can't be bothered getting drawn in'....  But then, how weak are some people if they can't just think... OK, that guys a pr!ck, I'll just not bother paying attention...

There is a certain poster who seems to consider himself quite the Walther Mitty, I often accidentally open his threads... as I soon as I start reading the insipid ramblings I kick myself for not first checking who the author is...

Zero.

I really couldn't give enough of a <deleted> about any of you that I would take the time to block you.

I actually think this culture on aseannow.com of bragging about who you have blocked is pathetic and I wonder how thse people deal with adversity in their day-to-day lives.

How sensitive do you need to be that you cant decide on the fly whether or not a post is to be acknowleged or ignored?

that said, if i were to block someone, it would be fredwiggy, that guy drinks way too much of hs own KoolAid.
