Opinion on Christmas music

Featured Replies

We live in a Buddhist country, but you wouldn't believe it if you see all the Christmas items around you: shop assistants and waiters with Christmas hats, Christmas trees, decoration etc. and last but not least the endless Christmas music in restaurants, shopping malls, public transport, resorts, virtually everywhere. Thai seem to think we like it or maybe they like it themselves. My question is: who enjoys the omnipresent Christmas music, both the traditional and the Christmas hits? Or on the other hand: who is relieved or maybe even sad when it's all over again?

    Why did you feel the need to put "gay music" rather than just "music" into your response? No wonder the "Gay Community" get a bad press when people like you keep trying to ram your Gay membership

funny 2 weeks ago i was made fun of for saying christmas stuff was all around. i find it so strange yet expected at the same time that christmas has been adopted here. cha ching and merry ho ho.

Not a fan but I just filter it out like I filter out everything unpleasant about living in Thailand.

Not really a problem.

Parties, gifts, eating, gay music, funny costumes -- the "reason" is irrelevant.

Not sure what you mean.

There are very few Thai Christians so it's a fact that Christmas here has nothing to do with Christianity for the vast majority of Thais.

In Thailand there is only one good reason for Christmas. And it has nothing to do with the music or Christmas trees.

All about sales. It means very little to most Thais. Don't blame them either; so ott in the West.

I'm still humming Feliz Navidad from breakfast at the local café earlier today 😅

I'm atheist but I'm somewhat ambivalent regarding Christmas. If it brings happiness and joy to people that's fine by me. And as far as @Dirk Z's comment on this goes, there are, in fact many Christians in Thailand, why shouldn't their festivals be recognized here?

Religious tolerance is something the whole planet could benefit from.

No wonder the "Gay Community" get a bad press when people like you keep trying to ram your Gay membership down our throats.

PS; Pun intended!

Face it there's nothing religious about Christmas in Thailand.

I don't mind Christmas. The music in the shopping malls is annoying, but that's about it.

No disgusting holiday food, though.

Kids in Mrs. Morch's family love it, so put it a bit of effort for them, if they show up.

Lights on the Jack-fruit tree (naturally shaped like a proper Christmas tree), I let my beard grow some (so the fake beard incident from the mall won't be repeated), and they get presents. Dog does her bit too, though under protest - hat/antlers until she decides it's enough and destroys them. Also 'camping' in the garden, staying up late and we build a fire (sometimes).

All good.

Christmas has very little to do with Christianity in many parts of the world.

Some people say 'put Christianity back in Christmas.'

I think we need to put Christianity back in Christians!

Can always try to self medicate with Adam Sandler's Hanukkah songs....

I found myself craving rummy egg nog but I don't think eggnog is sold here. I even looked up a recipe but looked like too much bother.

You really are showing yourself to be a moronic troll!

You know what I meant when I said;

"Why did you feel the need to put "gay music" rather than just "music" into your response? Please answer with the written word!"

I will re write my question so that even you will be able to understand the question without you coming back with what you think is a smart @rse response!

Please type an answer which does not make you seem an even bigger pratt than you have already become in my opinion;
