Biden: "I am an elderly man ... I know what the hell I'm doing"

President Biden found himself at the center of scrutiny and concern after a public display of irritability and confusion, raising questions about his fitness for office. Following the release of a special counsel's report portraying him as forgetful and feeble, Biden, 81, delivered hastily arranged remarks at the White House podium.

In a defiant tone, Biden asserted, "I know what the hell I'm doing," pushing back against allegations of cognitive decline outlined in the report. He passionately defended his memory and criticized the special counsel for questioning his recollection of personal events, such as the year his son Beau passed away.

However, during his remarks, Biden inadvertently referred to President el-Sisi of Egypt as the president of Mexico, adding to concerns about his mental acuity. The series of events on Thursday, including the report's findings and Biden's press conference, alarmed senior Democrats and former aides, with some expressing worry about his chances of reelection and ability to serve until the age of 86.

While some Democrats viewed the situation as survivable given the timing of the events, others criticized the special counsel's motives, suggesting partisan intent. Nevertheless, the incident underscored ongoing concerns within the Democratic Party about Biden's age and ability to effectively lead.

Moving forward, Biden faces the challenge of dispelling doubts about his cognitive abilities and making a compelling case for a second term to reassure voters. The incident highlights the delicate balance between acknowledging concerns about age and maintaining confidence in Biden's leadership capabilities.

You know Kamala is already practicing her speeches for when biden announces he's bowing out. But, not much time left for dems to have a different candidate. Do they really think they can prop biden up till after the elections and then have harris take the reins?

A shame that this is all going on at a time when solid leadership is required.

I find it telling when there's no one here trying to defend biden. I understand,

Toward the end of his remarks, Biden mistakenly referred to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the leader of Mexico.

Biden himself said he would be a one-term president and that his only purpose in the 2020 election was to defeat the contemptable scam artist of an opponent.

Add to that your spot on observation of Kamala getting carpenters ready to widen the chair behind the resolute desk to accommodate her burgeoning buttocks and you have a clear recipe for disaster. I know too many younger people who are gonna vote for an Independent or write in "Deez Nutz" rather than vote for either of the two front running losers.

And you hear this all over the world: "Is that the BEST the US can do?"

At first I thought that was a misunderstanding on my part. Joe's cheese has almost completely slid off his cracker.

It would be entertaining to watch the talking heads peeing themselves frantically every day trying to defend Joe if the real life repercussions weren't so drastic. Either way, the outcome of the 2024 election will not be good for the US.

Do you have a quote or a link that he ever said such thing?

It's been rumored that during the convention Biden will bow out for health reasons, and Michelle Obama will be the democratic candidate.

Only time will tell.

That's at the garbage level of Trump saying "people are saying"

It's basically insane.

Michelle Obama has zero interest in doing that.

The rumors I've heard are about even between Michelle and Newsom.  (With a few idiots demanding that it's Kamala's turn)   In either case, they'd get a candidate that hasn't beaten the stuffing out of each other in a primary contest.   My wingnut case would be Michelle as Prez and Newsom as VP, then Michelle will step down in a year or so and let Newsom have back to back to back terms.

So stupid!

Rumors from who?

RIght wing crap conspiracy sites?
Michelle Obama -- never going to happen.

The obvious person that most democrats would be happy with that's someone who actually wants the job (happier than Biden for sure) is Newsom.

  • Popular Post

As pundits have said, the only person who can fix the Biden has lost it narrative is Biden himself.

Trump won't want to debate Biden because Trump is mentally melting down rapidly.

Biden will need to take the risk of demanding debates, then beating Trump's ample ass to a pulp in them, and if Trump refuses, make the entire campaign about how Trump is afraid to face that.

I think it's telling that you didn't even mention Harris.  I think The View would call that racist.  Not me, though.  I'd call it realist.

We'll see...  Things have happened in US politics over the past 4 years that I never thought I'd see in my lifetime.

Nobody wants Harris. She knows it too. I'm sad for her about that, but as you say, realist.

Don't think he said it overtly though he did say stuff in 2020 like I am a bridge to a new generation of leaders which inferred it. For what it's worth Bill Maher has a good segment in todays show where he discusses that comment and this issue.

The world leaders are watching and hoping like hell Biden gets another term in office...

This is all noise.

If its Trump vs. Biden Biden wins because Trump is ALWAYS the greater of two evils.

News to me but I don't care either way.

It makes no difference good job or bad job.

Nobody wants her as president.

Biden is stuck with her as VP but VP usually doesn't decide elections.

I’m not sure why Harris gets such a bad rap; maybe she should have been attorney general (a job the incumbent is clearly not qualified for), which would have given her more opportunity to establish a record that she could have run on later for higher office if she wanted.

Yeah she looked good on paper when picked. I doubt she foolish enough to bother ever running for president herself.
