I was more worried by the extreme anti-white racism of the male newsreader than anything else.

The police on duty asked for cooperation from them to stop their motorbikes. However, the two violators then allegedly attempted to flee from the police. After the police pursuit, the two foreigners were infuriated and allegedly attacked the police while having the incident recorded by the police.

The situation escalated as the foreigners allegedly attempted to snatch the officers’ firearm causing the gun to fire once, nobody was injured, according to the police

Well that's screwed their stay in Thailand... unless they get banged up here.

How do you know, they could have been acting in self defence, could have been a drunk cop overacting and turned his gun on these two, looks like thesudued the officer and were holding his gun, they were not pointing it at him, I'll bet the cop was on something.

I'm looking at that video and that is a defensive mode to bring somebody down and they disarm him, to me that's not attacking him, but Im also not saying they are innocent,

I've met some kiwi dudes they were usually pretty cool I never understood why my Bros from England always said that kiwis were the result of Australians shagging sheep. I can't fathom  why British guys sometimes are so mean to their colonists that they sent across the water

This sort of thing is getting more common and will do us all no good, especially with the lesser educated Thais who can jump to quick generalisations about foreigners.

just because they are White does not infer they were originally from NZ.

They do not look Maori, definitely not "originally from NZ".

Note the newscaster says "Farang again" and the word Farang is the video title.

If the newscaster had used the word "Khon Tang Chat" would it have made a lick of difference? Yes, the guy who attacked the woman in the supermarket, the "kicking" incident involving David, and now this all involved Caucasians, but they were all also foreigners. There's little reason to believe that the use of the word "farang" wasn't colloquial shorthand for "foreigner" and attempts to stir up racial resentment by inferring a racial connotation to the word "farang" in this environment are disappointing.

@BritManToo

There were absolutely no racist undertones to the newscast. Yes, the newscasters expressed shock and dismay at footage showing two brawny foreigners disarming and putting a traffic cop in a head lock, but what the heck do you expect? Giggling, laughter, and high-fives?

What have they done.... Kinda like jumping on an ants nest- I only hope the RTP remain calm and treat this as an isolated case- Respect

Although the incident is serious in nature, anyone notice that loads of Thais did nothing, had it been a Thai man, loads of THAI WOULD HAVE JOINED IN TO FIGHT< BUT HELP THE POLICE >>>>NARRY A ONE> Now that tells you something !!!

If you watch the video again you will hear the female homeowner frantically yelling for the two men to stop the assault. Your ridiculous comment assumes that the assault occurred in front of a large group of people when it appears to have occurred along side a stretch of road. Cars can be heard driving by but to infer from that that everyone was apathetic about an assault on a police officer is silly.

More reason for the thai to pursue the ' anti farang ' campaign .

These 2 did not make anything better for the rest of the foreigners staying in Thailand .

Need to make an example of these 2 ... hang ' em high ...

Foreigners need to obey the laws of thailand , just as thais are supposed to ...

May be a criminal background check will become necessary soon for all visas , or , at least , the non O ...?

Maybe they were angry about the new 600% increase in the cost of a Thai visa due to be demanded from NZ citizens from this week. Or maybe they were just another couple of the quality foreigners that Thailand seems to attract.

My guess, is that the foreigners were only acting in self-defense and that is how the police should act like happened.

I hope we get the full story, people are stupid but not this stupid, it is believable that the gun was removed to protect the kiwi's from an over zealous officer, if it is that simple that they refused a traffic stop got caught and tried to bribe there way out, as many locals do, then yes they are in a heal of trouble.

Ask Aussie cops how the kiwis behave in Oz. Sameway these two pigheaded 'bros' did. Never known a kiwi in Oz to respect anylaws and I know and have worked with plenty of them.My youngest son unfortunately partnered a kiwi 'thing', absolute nightmare, he,s lucky to be alive.

But Kiwis used to be such NAICE people! (I was one once, then I became an Aussie but still naice.)

As a New Zealander, I can confirm that NZ is full of arrogant entitled p***** ... looking forward to leaving permanently... to SE Asia....

In my many thousands of KMs of motorcycling in Thailand, I was ALWAYS stopped at EVERY road check point, even as Thai's without helmets passed by without being stopped.

Once I was stopped about 3 times in maybe 20 kms (I have no idea what there were so many check points). I complained to the senior Police Officer there. He was very friendly. Funny, the next two check points I went though I was not stopped the only time this has ever happened = not being stopped at a Police check point.

There can have been no possible sane reason why these two nutters ended up in the situation they did other than their own arrogance, entitlement and stupidity.

I think too many western people tend to demand the same standards in a SE Asian country as they expect in their own country, forgetting that they are guests in this country and need to abide by the laws and customs of that country. As they say, when in Rome xxx xx x

So without all the facts you have them guilty and convicted. How very Aseannow. You should retire quickly, you will fit right in.

Are you all done with the Kiwi bashing? Last week it was the Swiss and Americans. We have only seen part of a video, which shows a foreigner restraining a Thai police officer with a headlock. We also see his friend dropping the magazine from the gun and clearing it. The question remains did the police office have the weapon drawn at the time, or was it removed from his holster?

Nobody in their right mind attacks a police officer for no reason!! On top of the severe loss of face for the copper, he needs to be drug tested.

These two Kiwis are not what they seem and it's obvious to most with some intelligence that they are attached to law inforcement or the military.

Either way in Thailand the Police are god, and which ever way this turns out, there is going to be severe consequences.

OK so what's been said that they didn't go out with their drivers licence and that's where it all kicked off, You never go out without your licence here if your riding or driving I learnt that 24 Yr ago! But that's even if they have a licence but I hope they get the full treatment at chalong Station then put behind the door for a few years

Simple to have a photo of it on your phone, although I always carry mine.

As always there is more to this story & none of it will be good

For some reason, perhaps based on other police actions against foreigners who do not immediately listen to them. I think there is more to the story that is not being told and that the news and police are basing their sole criticisms against the very bad foreigners. Even in the video clip the foreigner holding the gun and emptying the clip was tryin to tell the Thai near how the police assaulted them and was trying to kill them. It could be, that these foreigners were really trying to defend themselves and the cop drew his gun at them and they disarmed him for fear that he would shoot them. The police reputations are not very good to safely assume the cop did not change his story to make him innocent of doing any wrongdoings. The news sensationalism though will surely get all who watch without understanding english to think these foreigners really did all this cop was saying. They even misquote what the foreigners were saying in English to make them look even more bad.. I am not saying the story is not true. But there is enough reason to have a lot of doubt that it went down the way the report is saying.

Yes, Oz got loads of badguys due to the no travel restriction/passport thing, so cant be deported when they commit crime. Poor NZ wages pushed many to Aust and their still there, think its changed now.
