Pattaya — An Australian tourist was rescued after nearly drowning at Pattaya Beach on Monday, April 1st, 2024. The tourist smoked marijuana before the incident, said his wife.

The incident happened at 03:16 AM yesterday in front of Soi Jomtien 11, Pattaya City, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The victim, publicly identified by Pattaya police as Mr. Loy Malcolm Ayles, 58, was swimming in the sea when he suddenly disappeared underwater. A good Samaritan saw the incident and swam to his rescue.

Mr. Loy was pulled unconscious from the water and brought to the beach. Rescue workers performed CPR and rushed him to a local hospital.

  • I would bet an oz of good weed that there was also some alcohol involved in  a 3 am swim.

  • I can’t help thinking that relaxing the weed laws will have dire consequences down the road.

You do get the odd numb-nuts (to say the least) among the tens of millions of tourists coming to Thailand as

these pages have been shown...

This is fake news.

3am, all the 'good Samaritans' are sleeping.

I reckon it one of those 'bad Samaritans', a ladyboy's looking for people's belongings on the shoreline.

Channel 32 news yesterday morning said he was drunk and his wife confirmed it. It showed him having CPR, he looked in a bad state.

58 years old, Australian, 3 am, drunk on alcohol and high on weed.

What could go wrong?

heart attack blamed on pot... anything to criminalise it again... pathetic

And as I predicted the choreographed media assault on cannabis has started again,  Fake news without doubt, I'm not saying the incident didn't take place, but I am pretty much certain that cannabis was not responsible for him sinking,   If losing buoyancy was a side effect (which it is not) this would not be the first time this has happened, and as there is no evidence that cannabis was a contributory factor why was it even mentioned?

It is indeed absolutely pathetic but the uninformed prohibitionists will of course fully embrace this as the truth, we will hear a lot more incredible reports like this over the next few links, In the lead up to any proposed changes in legislation.  If this is the best they can do, they really are clutching at straws

This regurgitation of reefer madness should be called out for the b/s that it is.  It really is an insult to (most)  peoples intelligence

No mention of heart attack in news-blip ...

... but I'm confuses, was he wading or swimming.

So did the ganga cause the coma, or simple exposure to the seawater at Patt's beach ... :cheesy:

Very unlikely to have just been cannabis.

with cannabis possibly popping up on a few states ballot this coming election the timing couldn't be worse for them to do an about turn.

I very much doubt weed was the cause of this incident. Alcohol more likely to be the culprit, as the man's wife later confirmed.

It is possibly a factor.... a mix of the two..... I  know that the two do not mix well with me.
