I've seen a lot of lunatics in Phnom Penn and Siem Reap also, especially these last couple of years.

Local Cambodians have noticed and commented about the foreigners who can no longer maintain the financial conditions to stay in Thailand.

I can not imagine being a foreigner and not having any money in Thailand. Foreigner + no money = BIG loser.

how can you prove it was unprovoked?

you don't know the past history

If you read the link, it said that the German had a history of doing so.

Looks like all those party huts and bungalows down by Serendipity Beach are gone. The Happy Pizza shack places likely gone as well.

Looks like all the dentists have moved out as well.

Sihanoukville was the worst I saw in Cambodia. They call them 'deathpats'. People who have washed up in the last place that accepts them. Maybe they have been pushed along by now with the Chinese development.

Saw one room with bloody swabs all over on the pillow and bed when looking to rent a room.

They seem to be preyed upon by other expats and maybe locals as well. They just go down hill with booze and drugs and end up in a tiny cheap room, usually close to a grungy entertainment area like Victory Hill, or one of those places near the water where there is nothing. Not the same as Pattaya and similar, it's much worse.

Strange things blowing in on the wind there, strange smells, especially along deserted dirt roads. Could feel something in the breeze. Felt like...lack of hope, for lack of a better word.

Siem Reap and PP was Ok for me if you stay in a decent place.

Were you checking into the room beside them ? :coffee1:

When was this ? You should have made a video

This idea that Chinese infusion of capital into a dirt poor place has "ruined" it is a bit of a contradiction. It doesn't sound like they ruined much if the development pushed some of the worst types of farang drifters along

I guess I could just view it as a new Miami. It's all in the interpretation.

I used to think I could find good & cheap if I looked hard enough (cheap paradise). Now I'm pretty much a believer in I get what I pay for.

8 years?? 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'm not good with dates.

Similar thing happened to me in Pattaya by a Canadian guy. I sat down on the side of a pool and he came up to me and kicked me in the back of my head. He had to pay 20k fine, but my brain never felt the same.

Did you not notice him closing in on your personal space a bit before it happened ?

With this poor old fella, I guess he didn't hear or sense that the German mental case was closing in on him.

Unless I am in a big crowd, I usually have a close account of who is around me and how close they are.

Had you ever seen or interacted with him before the attack?

What did he do before/after the attack?

Who else was around or in the pool?

Yes I thought he came to say hi, he looked friendly. He tried to kick me in my face, but I turned around and he got a soccer freekick in the back of my head.

What happened afterwards? Did he stick around until the police arrived? How was he caught?

Did he say anything afterwards?

Yes he went into a condo, and the guards at Arcadia looked at the camera and found him. He confessed everything to the police.

I did a CT scan of my brain and they couldn't find any damage, so it was hard to press the case. Cameras at the condo didn't catch the attack either. I never felt the same anyway. Bad memory and brain feels more stupid and slower, not sure if it's placebo. Perhaps in just getting old.

Sorry that happened to you. I will be looking around me more for safety. It's hard to know what others are thinking.

Who did the foreigner piss off? That takes some effort.

I was attacked from behind a few years ago by a guy who was German or Belgian in Hua Hin while sitting at the shop bar in Smorprong. The guy was a professional cage fighter, he attacked me because he told others that I said something bad about him that I dont recall.

I was fortunate enough to cover my head with my hands but still spent 3 days in bed.

My wifes brother was police and they got him, locked him up and then brought him to my house put him on his knees and made him apologize, and pay my wife 10,000 BHAT, which I never saw a penny of , I think it went back to the police, they asked me if I wanted him deported I said if he stays away from me its ok.

I saw him many times later and he was to scarred to come near me, also my 2 best friends were boxers and told him they would smash him if he hurt anyone again.

The guy was a nut case.

I wonder if it was the same guy?

The problem with having someone like that loose 'on the street' is that they are then free to attack another innocent person and next time it could be a fatal assault

Rather sounds like it. Matches the description of the guy in this case almost to a T.

In any event, I'd hate to think that there were two such nutters wandering around in Hua Hin.
