Here's a question: if these drivers are so poor and don't make much money, why do so many of them have massive stereo system, fancy lighting, and all sorts of other 'luxury' additions to their rides? Shouldn't their pittance to towards something like feeding their families and saving for the future?  Inquiring minds want to know. 😉

Although I don't know, I was thinking along those lines, driver taking advantage of an inebriated passenger, which we all know happens a lot here.

The claim is in the article.

There is no claim that the driver "accepted the B100" (i.e. agreed that B100 was ok) in payment for the fare, just that the passenger gave that to him.

Why is it when a foreign person is involved in alleged wrong doing there is almost always video footage. Very confronting. The video is often cut off short at both ends, it's just enough for you to see and back up the headline allegation and form the opinion that the headline is accurate. 

Rarely so when it's a Thai wronging a foreign. You will get a still photo or maybe nothing at all. 

Exact same with the two Kiwis who "assaulted" a police officer. A nicely edited video that doesn't look good on the two chaps.

 

Oh ya for all you idiots out there, this is assault, whether it was deserved or not due to theft I dont know. There is no excuse for theft or assault in a perfect world but actions have consequences. This is not restraint like the two Kiwis were shown doing in the perfectly edited to portray one side of the story video.

Yes, it says that he paid it (to the driver, obviously), it does not say that the driver accepted B100 as enough for the, apparently agreed, fare of B400.

But one sees foreigners stealing from Thais, while the more recent one appears to be a foreigner complaining of a Thai stealing from him (albeit with his fists).  The two don't seem similar, unless you are trying to make out that the recent case is also one of a foreigner stealing from Thais for some reason?
