  • They had this ten years ago before the numpties in City Hall decided to have them cut down.....

  • And they had benches under those trees, where one could pause on a walk and watch the world go by.

Before they have these ambitious brain farts they need to get the current problems fixed. I first hit Pattaya 25 years ago, it was a really fun place then but now it's the hub of money grabbing with little or no service.

was awesome 25 years ago then again i was 25 years younger, glad im not living there anymore place is a mess

Southeast Asia’s premier destination

An other New HUB. for premiers .

"... to become ..."

Thanks for admitting that it IS one of the lowermost destinations now. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sadly, some of the young girls have to work in the sex industry because they have a child and the fathers run away and do not support their child.

Unlike Australia, your wages are garnished if you run away.

These poor girls have no choice.

Some people here need to be honest with themselves.

While true, you have to take some responsibility for who you allow to dip their dick and impregnate you in the first place, both mother and father are responsible.

They have a choice but this is the most lucrative/"easy" option (it's not due to the long-term consequences but they don't think of that like the OF girls of the West)

Some people in these situations need to be honest with themselves....

I see you commenting negatively at times regarding these working girls.

You seem bitter, have you been screwed over by a working girl and hold a grudge.

Get over it

The expected negative comment having a go at anyone who is not a sex worker supporter. Never been screwed over by Thai prostitutes, so nothing to be bitter about. It's a regrettable line of work, which behind the neon and fake smiles lies criminality, depression, drink/drug addictions and diseases. They mostly hate the punters and I can't blame them, they are quite right to drain these mugs of everything they can get out of them.

Not the first time anyone has said they want Pattaya to be a family destination. Will it survive without prostitution? The last time I looked there was very little too see. Reports of black water, katoeys beating up foreigners regularly.

I think it will be a difficult job.

I "first hit" Pattaya 46 years ago, probably for different reasons than yours, so what you came for 25 years ago probably isn't what anyone's coming for today.

Next please.

it's only been getting worse.

Not better.

Anyway, nowhere in SE Asia can compare to this SE Asian destination....

LOL. This type of story comes up about three times a year. I always laugh. Premier destination. Family Friendly. Not a sex haven. Etc, etc, etc.

Pattaya is what it is and it will always be what it is.

Next they'll be trying to change it, make it a family orientated city, instead try and make Hua Hin bearable

With Pattaya, that's already in progress, and has been for sometime.  Take a gander at what's going on in north Pattaya/Wong Amat.  Terminal 21, of course, with its Centre Point hotel, but also the new family wing at Amari, built specifically for families with larger suites so they can all stay together.

Across the street from T21 is Centre Point Space, also geared to families with its space theme.  On the beach, Dusit and Cape Dara.  Centara, the very large grand daddy of them all with its kids-oriented Jurassic Park vibe and family entertainments, is now undergoing a big renovation.   Also near T21, a large tract of old, rundown shops and restaurants has just been bulldozed, with something called Again Pattaya to be built.

In front of Cape Dara, on a huge plot of land, Centre Point 3 has started construction and will be bigger than both CP1 and Centre Point Space.  New hotels Mytt and Ozo are also geared to regular tourists, meetings and weddings.  Mytt has a ballroom that can hold 1500 people, and a second one that can hold 800.

In addition to the family entertainments that Pattaya has had for some time, including Nong Nooch Gardens, the aquarium, Tiger Park, Ripley's, Mini Siam, elephant parks, etc., several new family entertainments have been built, including the Universal Studios Aquaverse, Ramayana, the new Go-Cart track, Dolphinarium, Frost Magical Ice and all the entertainments near it, and now the brand new water park near the View Ang restaurant.

On the condo front, there have been dozens of new, large low and highrise projects done--from Riviera Wong Amat to Copacabana in Jomtien.  At least a half dozen new mega condo projects are either under construction or getting started.  One will be 65 stories, the highest in Pattaya.

I'm sure there are more new things that I am unaware of--I only came across the new waterpark I mentioned when I went to lunch at View Ang.  It's easy to see that the great majority of what has been built recently, and what is being planned and is under contruction, is aimed at the family/couples tourist demographic.

Guys going out at night looking for hookers is considered a bustling nightlife?

And?

Promises like these do not happen overnight.

What happens overnight in Pattaya is trouble, positively "bustling" with it!

Is it April fools day or am I missing something here!

Unbelievable that anyone actually makes that statement.

It is a unbelievably low bar… grim

Not forgetting the dangerous pavements/footpaths , especially if you had a couple of beers . Often you have to walk in single file because of the street vendors using the pavements . Beach road really lends itself to a promenade . The poor state of Pattayas pavements  show how important tourists are . Do people actually go swimming in that sewage polluted sea ? I wonder if the sea in Pattaya is ever tested for pollution levels and swimmers safety ?

They were saying this 30 years ago when I unfortunately went there, it is still Southeast Asia's premier SEX TOURIST destination, just be honest about it.

Important to mention that a high percentage of the sex tourists get scammed in Pattaya. It's definitely a tourist trap, there's no culture only greed.

These statements keep people in work, no more no less.

It allready is.

Great food,fine hotels,great nightlife.

Despite the few right wing conservative religious nutcases on this forum, Pattaya is known, and rightly so as the go to place in South East Asia.

There's a reason Pattaya has some of the most expensive real estate in the world.

That could be anywhere in Thailand.

Perhaps don't get so plastered you can't walk.

Sad, but true!

"Pattaya to become Southeast Asia’s premier destination"

Very wishful thinking.  Good luck with that.

Yes, 25 years ago they didn't have premier 18 hole golf courses, top rated 5 star hotels, excellent shopping and dining to rival ant city in Asia.

Don't forget the vibrant nightlife!

Sounds like you spent to much time in Sunday school and not enough time in the "real world".

I wouldn't be surprised if you have actually been to Pattaya, let alone to a big city.

Russia?

Maybe they could start by telling the Indians to use the sidewalks instead of walking down the street and blocking traffic.
