A picture of a naked foreign man proudly showing off the family jewels inside a cannabis shop in the Patong neighbourhood of Phuket went viral on Thai social media. The reason for his nakedness is still under investigation.

The Phuket Times shared the picture of the naked foreigner yesterday, August 21, with a caption that read, “Free visa! Drunk foreign man in Patong stripped naked and proudly showed off his private parts!”

The news page reported that the incident occurred at a cannabis shop in the Patong area of Phuket on Tuesday, August 20. The nationality of the foreign man was not disclosed.

In the picture, the naked foreigner was seen standing with his arms extended towards the large window of a blue cannabis shop. Some cannabis plants were outside the store. There were no other customers in the area.

The post garnered over 3,200 reactions from netizens, many of whom condemned the foreigner for his inappropriate behaviour and criticised government officials for offering free visas, which they believed allowed poor-quality tourists into the country.

“Free visas are no good. Quality tourists don’t come. It’s not worth it. They come and waste our water supply and resources. It’s time to cancel free visas and focus on quality tourists.”

“Phuket, the real entertainment venue.”

“Hmmm… City of freedom?”

“He loves freedom.”

“Don’t think too much. It makes Phuket lively!”

“It’s not about free visas, it’s about cannabis.”

“I often see foreigners walking in shopping malls in bikinis.”

Some netizens mentioned a similar incident that occurred last week in the southern province of Surat Thani. In that case, a foreign man was seen taking off his clothes and approaching a cow. The animal was frightened and gored the man, causing him severe injuries.

Locals suspected that the man intended to engage in sexual activity with the cow, but this was not confirmed. The foreign man refused treatment at a hospital and immediately rushed home without attending a police questioning.

It's amazing that when stoned folk do something stupid, the weed affiliates blame alcohol.

It is their stock excuse.

Do they sell alcohol in weed shops?

Because smoking weed doesn't make you want to do stupid things like that. Alcohol, on the other hand, is well known for being the cause of such behaviour, as well as for causing traffic accidents, aggressions and even murder.

When was the last time you heard of someone stoned going on a killing spree. 🤣

Get real, man.

Oh dear. Someone woken up.

Drug driving (Including cannabis) in many parts of the UK is now more common than drink driving. Google it.

No one in Thailand tests for cannabis when there is a problem/accident/death. People assume alcohol. It is an easy (old fashioned?) solution requiring no effort.

And we all know how lazy the police here are.

I have watched stoned guys, struggling to get dressed when I had to get them out of a villa, and then getting on scooters and wobbling off down the road.

Another time, three stoned (out of their heads) middle eastern gentlemen threatened to kill me after accusing me of stealing their very expensive weed.

I can assure you that was real, boy.

Many people drink while smoking weed, and you might think irrational behavior is from the weed, but as he mentioned, it's usually alcohol that has people doing off the wall and dangerous things. Weed almost always mellows people, making them calm and sociable. All of my life, surrounded by those partaking in the smoke, I have never seen anyone going off from it alone, but alcohol? Yes, many times. I also have never seen or heard of anyone who was only smoking pot that caused an accident, although of course it might happen. This man was said to be drunk. Because he was in a weed shop, I'm thinking you thought it was weed from there that had him act this way. Most likely he went to the shop drunk, looking for weed, and for only reasons he knows, he stripped.

I'd have thought he might have found something akin to a fig leaf in a cannabis shop.:coffee1:

Sorry, but to blame the weed would be completely wrong. Weed does not affect people in this way. Not normally anyway. Something else may have contributed to his exuberant show haha.. But I seriously doubt the weed caused him to act this way.

I disagree. I invite you to watch the definitive documentary on the subject.  I found it an eyeopener!!!!!!!

Marijuana, the burning weed with its roots in he11. In the startling film you will see dopesters lure children to destruction.  Debauchery, violence, murder, suicide and the ultimate end of the marijuana addict - hopeless insanity.

The evidence is there in black and white.

Alcohol consumption can lead to violence, weed consumption not.

I take it that you are sarcastic. Nice one.
Unfortunately, that's how this witch-hunting madness started, and as you can see from the post I replied to, the effects of the brainwashing still persist today.

You might have a point, but...

Doesn't weed make you horny?

I think he was advertising, maybe got no takers.

I heard weed gives you the munchies. Perhaps he was planning on eating the cow.

Here you go, some interesting reading

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7084484/

2.1. Marijuana Violence
On March 13, 2019, Anthony Comello admitted to, and subsequently was charged for, the killing of Frank Cali, a senior leader of the Gambino family in Staten Island, New York. Both men were allegedly having an altercation over Comello’s romantic interest on one of Cali’s relatives. Although Comello had no previous criminal encounters with law enforcement, reports suggest that he drew the attention of authorities by acting strangely in a federal courthouse when he offered to perform a citizen’s arrest on New York City’s Mayor, Bill De Blasio. Previously, Comello sought a U.S. Marshal to inquire how to perform a citizen’s arrest on the United States Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Comello admitted that, at the time of Cali’s killing, he was high on marijuana and shot Cali because he feared that the senior leader had a gun and would shoot him during their altercation [4,7].

A Mafia/romantic killing, blamed on weed. 😄

On February 10, 2019, a man killed his 13-year-old nephew with a knife in Rustavi, Georgia. The man had a history of marijuana use. For days leading up to the killing, he was complaining about having dizziness, headaches, general weakness, nausea, and insomnia. He would also occasionally suffer from anxiety, irritability, and loss of appetite. His wife stated that he consumed and was under the influence of marijuana, which made his symptoms worse. The day before the killing, he tried to go to a clinic. However, the clinic rejected treatment by telling him to go to a psychiatric hospital. However, under the influence of drugs, he simply went home hours before killing his nephew [8].

A person with a history of psychological problems, yet weed is blamed for his instability. 😄

On February 1, 2018, Nikolas Cruz killed 17 students and staff at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and injured 17 others. Cruz was diagnosed as developmentally delayed at age three and had numerous disciplinary issues dating to middle school. From a young age, he started consuming marijuana heavily. He accounts that he would frequently “hear demon voices” and would consume large amount of marijuana to try and silence those voices. He also attempted suicide. During an interview after his mass shooting, he stated that he used “a lot of marijuana” as well as prescription tranquilizer Xanax [9,10].

Same as above.

I could go on, but I have better things to do with my time.
Point is, it's undisputable that weed is a psychoactive substance, but is NOT THE CAUSE for the violence. An unstable person should refrain from taking ANY substance that could exacerbate his condition.

From the article you linked:
In the cases above mentioned, one of the recurring conditions that most likely led perpetrators to commit violence was paranoia

If the demonization of weed is legitimized by and based on such flimsy evidence of a few cases among MILLIONS of otherwise stable users, then it would be a no-brainer to completely outlaw the use of alcohol based on the overwhelming, concrete evidence of the destructive potential of it.

(PS: I like to drink occasionally and do NOT advocate for an alc ban)
