Celsius Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 I didn't mind Pattaya in the past.... I mean pre COVID. I generally don't mind tourists as I am one myself. But now it's just too much. Over the top. Traffic on the other hand wasn't as bad as I was expecting. We drove from Bangkok and it was worst going through Chonburi (as expected).
EVENKEEL Posted January 12 Posted January 12 1 hour ago, hotandsticky said: That's more like it - thanks. It does seem to suit the palate of @EVENKEEL though. Like I said, we order from Platinum menu using a QR code. Good steak, shell fish, premium sushi rolls, salmon cooks instantly in the broth, dipped in the sauce with minced garlic. Very easy. Aka is OK also but cooking meat on grill top takes time.
Briggsy Posted January 12 Posted January 12 @Celsius Try Harbor in Laem Chabang. Escape the tourist hordes. Still have the "seaside atmosphere". You will find your money goes a lot further in the food court. 🤗 1 1

Sipko Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I get a lot of these correspondents are very unhappy being in Pattaya. Perhaps they would be very much more satisfied being in their home countries. Maybe Thai authorities should put up some financial incentives for such people to emigrate back to their home countries. 1

How about this; "Laem Chabang Port is one of the highest (trading) growth rates in the world; rated World Top Container Port by the world's leading magazine such as Loylld List etc." Do you see those massive piles of freight containers from the beach? I've never been there but also would like to find a nice, quiet beach close to Bangna.
J Branche Posted January 13 Posted January 13 So Recap some think everyone earned the same while working, investing over their lives. Had same health, family, and other expenses. Some value food more than others. Confirmed everybody's taste buds are different. Should be asking why their is no nutritional info some places. Who approved using Micro print to hide nutritional info. They probably know most people will just eat and worry about it later. It will be the Health insurance and Government Hospitals problems.
it is what it is Posted January 13 Posted January 13 so many people obsessed by saving a few baht on food. if there's one thing worth paying for it's decent food. 2 1

And yes you will see a lot of shipping containers everywhere. The nearest beach to Bang Na (district of Bangkok) would typically be classed as Bang Saen. Not far from Bang Na you do have Bang Poo in Samut Prakan which has chalets, a pier, mud flats rather than a beach and mangrove forest. It is nice and quiet. 1

Must be busy during weekends, so close to Bangkok. But still better than 2h bus ride to Jomtien from BangNa. BangNa gals always want to be taken to a real beach! So many have never been to a beach. Busy to work.
Celsius Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Please do not go to Bang Sean. The worst beach in the universe. Pattaya would be a world class resort compared to that.

Not often but in this case he is absolutely correct. It is and has been the Thai's go to beach. Up2U but I for sure would give it a miss. Here is is on a holiday weekend.

BangNa gals are not so picky anyway. Compared to smelly ugly local beach Bang Saen should be French Riviera! Hotels are under 1000 B too. I go to see.

I remember buying a chicken green curry there. It was cheap all right. No meat in it to speak of, only grisle, bone and skin, beerk!
GypsyT Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Go to Jomtien Rompho market and buy whole grilled chicken for 140 B or half 80 B. Stall #1. Nice young boy. Then BIG bag of cooked Jasmine from old lady next to it for 10 B. Then walk inside the hall and buy nixed greens for 20 B. That's 2-3 days of good meals for me. 1
