In any thread about Gaza, "the sins of the few fall as guilt on the many". So many posters here are fully supportive of slaughtering tens of thousands of Gaza residents, because of the horrific crimes of Hamas.

So let's be consistent....deport all Aussies and ban entry to all Aussies.

Also, this "Susan" perp makes me think....."susanlea"....aka bignok, aka Sparktrader, aka Harrisfan, aka uttradit, etc.?

Could it be?

5 years for snatching a couple of iphones seems rather harsh.

and what does the motorcycle have to do with anything?

Same as.in the dark...more serious offence

A real 21st Century Bonnie and Clyde is what they are.

The real punishment is going to be when people ask them what they were arrested for, and they'll all laugh when they hear "bag snatching."

No, because the perpetrators were falang from a wealthy western nation blatantly Committing  low life crimes in an Asian country, it doesn't matter what was stolen, theft is theft. Can you imagine the despair the victims must have felt, possibly losing not only money and phones but also passports as well.

Absolutely.... it's not harsh enough for a premeditated crime such as this.

It gives the hermits something to talk about.

Ha that's nothing - we used to get sent to Australia for life for stealing a handkerchief or a loaf a bread.

Yes, sentence them to spend the rest of their lives in Canberra.

Australia is exporting their convicts back to the rest of the world now?

In the past, criminals were deported to Australia. Now Australia is deporting its gangsters to other countries, even to Thailand!

Both in the big house for a few months and deported with a ban for life so it will be a holiday they will never forget.

A few years mate, there was a farang some years ago got caught with some stolen phones, he got 5 years and he didn't steal them,

Bag snatching in Thailand is not something new it's been going on for years but amongst Thais, This is the first I have heard Farang doing it, I did know a Thai girl years ago twice she had her bag snatched in Patong,

This is new, a Farang couple my guess this is not the first time they been bag snatching or similar they must have some bottle to come and do it in a foreign country knowing what will happen to them here,

I wouldnt mind guessing they have some previous,

I dont know what a fair sentence would be.

Well, it's not a fair crime either and it is pre-meditated, the targets are specifically chosen and after things like this, many people will feel unsafe just walking the streets. That's not fair either. I think in many cases like this, if the perps plead guilty they get a reduced sentence. I also do not know what a fair sentence might be, but it was a very deliberate act with a potential of doing bodily harm...

Very different to the late 90's and early 00's, as there weren't of them in Thailand. Most of them went to Bali.

The Aussie you met back then used to be professionals, not the bogan chavs we get now.

I knew a Scottish woman that was killed in Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 22 after a bag snatch incident that happened in the early 2000's.

nah, 5 years in the Hilton will do them good. Lucky they aren't in a country that cuts off hands for theft.

The first one happened near to were we live, Im not sure about a convenience store on Samakea 4, maybe they have the wrong Samakea, if it was No2 then it would be a 7/11,

Im always telling my wife carrying her bag with a Mobile phone and expensive one at that, C/C is she's driving she does lock the car door, it only locks when she moves, then occasionally she will go out on the bike, that always worries me she wouldn't stand a chance if she got dragged of the bike,

Was that a Thai doing the snatching? I was living in Bkk at that time, Sukhumvit soi 2

Message to Foreigners: Before committing a crime read the books about life in a Thai prison, look at the photographs of prison and Immigration detention cells, and also watch the videos about them. You may then decide to change your mind about what you have planned.

5 years in a Thai prison! ... The thought is enough to make me stay a good boy.

Yes, I feel sorry for the Aussies. If these people had not been loitering around the motorbike theft would not have happened.

Surely they didn’t have work permits. This job is reserved for locals.
