In order for the new visa policies to be facilitating an influx of badly behaved tourists, it follows that these people were previously kept at bay by the old visa policies.  I wonder how this was done.

Visa policies have no impact on how people behave...

 

If its a 90 day or a 10 year visa - idiots will still do idiotic stuff...

 

In this case, the only idiotic thing this guy did was overstay, I've no idea why... but he was hardly causing trouble....   

 

 

Additionally - I don't think there is an 'influx of badly behaved tourists' there are just 'more tourists'....  and this more tools that are included in the greater numbers... 

Plus the facet that social media now records everything - so it seems like there are more idiots.

Well, you might think that it is not related to visas, but many obviously do.  It's mentioned in most stories of foreigners behaving badly on this forum.  They could be making it up, of course, but, if true, Thai people are clearly concerned that visa-free means more badly behaved tourists.

I dont' think the amount of poorly behaved tourists is related specifically visas... i.e. a 90visa vs a 10 year visa... etc

 

But, I think your comment on 'visa free entry' is spot on...    as that significantly increases tourist / visitor numbers...  which is exactly what Thailand wanted....

 

... and yes...  I think that means far more poorly behaved 'visa free' entrants than before - i.e. Chinese etc....   I think many are actually using that to work here.... 

 

As far as poorly behaved Westen toursts - more Russians due to geopoltics simply means more badly behaved Russians than before.....

 

And the continued Visa Free entry those from many other Western nations just means the same amount of dyck-heads misbehaving as before - but social media is a lot more prevalent so their antics are in the media spotlight more often.
