Thai police have detained two Indian men for questioning in connection with the alleged rape of a 24-year-old German tourist at the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan. Both suspects have given contradictory accounts of events. Authorities remain confident they have apprehended the correct individuals.

The victim, identified as Ms. Sara, reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by two men near a rocky area close to a bungalow in Moo 6, Ban Tai Subdistrict, Koh Phangan. The attack took place after she had been drinking at the Full Moon Party. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Following the report, senior officers, including Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapong Thanomjit, Commander of Provincial Police Region 8, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phueakam, Commander of the Tourist Police, mobilised teams to track down the suspects. Investigators reviewed over 100 CCTV cameras in the area and interviewed witnesses. Forensic officers also collected evidence from the crime scene.

The investigation led police to a bungalow in Moo 1, where they detained Mr. Vijay, 47, and Mr. Rahul, 40, both Indian nationals on tourist visas. The two men were taken to Koh Phangan Police Station for questioning.

During interrogation, Mr. Vijay reportedly provided partial admissions, while Mr. Rahul gave vague and inconsistent statements, claiming he could not remember the events of that night. As part of the investigation, police collected DNA samples from both men and sent them for analysis at Koh Phangan Hospital.

Meanwhile, Ms. Sara stated that she had been heavily intoxicated on the night of the attack and could not positively identify her attackers. She also mentioned that the area where the assault took place was poorly lit, making recognition difficult.

CCTV from the scene.

Pol. Col. Apichart Chansamret, Chief of Koh Phangan Police, emphasised that while the victim could not confirm the identities of her attackers, evidence from CCTV footage and witness testimonies supported their suspicions. He stated that no other individuals were seen leaving the crime scene at the time of the assault, apart from Mr. Vijay and Mr. Rahul.

“We are confident that we have the right suspects,” Pol. Col. Apichart said. “However, we will await the results of the DNA analysis and further investigations before proceeding with formal charges.”

Authorities have reassured the public that they are committed to ensuring the safety of tourists and will take swift action against those found responsible. The case remains under investigation.

A highly intoxicated person is more vulnerable to crime.  Do you really not agree with this fairly obvious fact?

  • She's probably lucky it was just the two of them.

  • By Indian tradition women might not survive such attack.

100,000's of females might disagree with you.

However, a girl who is smashed of her trolley may be at risk.

Again,100,000's have survived that with no trouble.

How do you consider that lucky? What point are we on. Should a woman be happy that only 2 persons raped her?

And the first victim blamer appears; and by the way, it’s off, not of.

I don't think anyone was suggesting that. The reason that intoxication was brought up was simply that it makes things more dangerous for someone.

That might be. However, I still fail to see how this can be lucky.

Nope! With a comment like that, I think you should ask the woman if saying such crap helped.

but it's the way of the world.

and any woman reading this should be cautious about getting heavily intoxicated where they are vulnerable.

You guys missing the point. Yes on a scale where one extreme is murder, she should consider herself luckier.

Nothing to do with victim blaming.... just don't make yourself an obvious target

She doesn't know who attacked her. The two males haven't confessed. Now everyone needs to wait for the DNA results before blaming anyone.

On her own out of her mind with drink and whatever else is inviting trouble and now they allow easy visas before Indians could only get a 15 day visa and they had to pay for it on arrival now check ups like before it’s an open invitation for scrupulous individuals The DNA will prove their guilt but if she was off her trolley she has to prove it wasn’t consensual

A racist troll post has been removed.

@TimBKK another similar post will see a time out.

Rule 15. You will not discriminate or post slurs, degrading or overly negative comments on the basis of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, medical history, marriage, civil partnership, pregnancy, maternity, paternity, gender identity, sexual orientation or any other irrelevant factor.

I have heard more than one complaint from luscious backpacker girls about the behavior of Indians in Siem Reap. They get excited over bikinis.

Not fair to generalize of course but in my 40ish years in and around ASEAN, I have heard complaints from girls before.

You hardly ever see Indians in places like Thermae. The girls wont deal with them.

They act far differently in the USA.

German girl, two Indian guys.

Being consensual is definitely out of the question...

Two Indian nationals were arrested today (March 16) on Koh Phangan after being accused of raping a German woman at a Full Moon Party. The incident occurred during the popular party, held from Thursday night into Friday morning.

Police launched an investigation after reviewing CCTV footage, which led them to Mr. Vijay Dadasaheb, 47, and Mr. Rahul Balasaheb, 40. With the help of various law enforcement divisions, arrest warrants were obtained, and the suspects were taken into custody.

The victim, who identified the pair, reported being too intoxicated to defend herself during the assault. Mr. Dadasaheb reportedly confessed to the crime, while Mr. Balasaheb claimed he only kissed and hugged the woman, releasing her when she resisted.

Both the suspects and the victim underwent DNA testing as part of the investigation. The Indian men now face charges of joint rape by force against a person unable to resist. reported Thai Newsroom.

Visa freers 🤔

Fine, jail time, deport and lifetime ban.

No. Life accommodations at the bkk hilton.

Fine them,  jail them here for a year,  then deport and ban.

Ms Sara,   not very smart to get plastered and especially at a full moon party.

not sure why someone gave a sad and confused emoji to my comment.   What I said was absolutely correct,   it was not very wise for her to get plastered at a full moon party.

some folks on here lack common sense.
