Blocking a Member ?

Ignoring or Blocking people is for pansies. Life must really be hard for people who can't function around others that don't think like them.

I find a user particularly a nuisance, is it possible to block someone?

Thanks

On my phone 'ignore' is not an option, only when using my laptop.

Yes, you can. All you have to do is not click on it, and voila, it's ignored. Happy to help.

Even easier is to give up in the whole forum and all the toxic cllickbait political posts that has engulfed it...

Why are you here? 90% on here have seen 10% of Thailand. They are clueless after 20 years.

It's not that easy. I've tried, but always get sucked back in. One of these days I'm not coming back though.

It is, but unfortunately their threads still show in the "forum hot topics" links and you don't know whose thread it is until you click on it.

Yeah, First World Problems are HARD, man.

Great way to get even more ignorant in life; self censor yourself by blocking any view at a particular moment in time forever from other people so your views get only more and more selective and limited. Congrats, you now achieved to be on a forum that is no longer really a forum.

I wish this forum would not allow repeated posts every few minutes, it would keep a topic from being hijacked by a couple bickering members....

Never read any of my replies, it's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Nuff said. 🤣

I'm not seeing it on the phone app. I asked in forums several times with no answer.

It is in the desktop app.Screenshot_20250325_103452_DuckDuckGo.jpg.fbaa5fcc3b82cd57c6a570eed96378a0.jpg

why make things more difficult yourself? I've blocked one person and the forum is a lot better for me to read due to this. That person is not offensive, but it's like he's on one lifelong acid trip. I can't be bothered with the jibberish he posts every day.

Difficult ? That explains a lot.  Is it so hard to just scroll on by ? lol

Thats how I felt for over 10 years on this site too. There comes a time (for me anyway) when you just can't be bothered with some people anymore.

At times I enjoy reading some of the bickering between posters, so my block list is very short.

Exactly - I used to think the same too... No need to block or ignore, just scroll on by, but, some people just keep trolling and trying to trigger an argument after being called out for an idiotic comment in a different thread...

...  Or more commonly they simply offer nothing, nothing whatever other than wasteful tosh and they do so with such a consistency that its simply not worth seeing any comment they make...

I sometimes reopen a comment they make and I'm never surprised by their content which always re-enforces earlier opinions.

It’s not a matter of closed-mindedness.

Many of us are perfectly willing to engage with opposing views, even when they're patently offensive or deeply objectionable, because debate, however uncomfortable, can still be meaningful.

But then there are those whose contributions are utterly devoid of substance. They neither present arguments nor offer insight. Instead, they pollute every thread they touch with a stream of empty provocation or incoherent noise. Their consistency in this is almost impressive - like clockwork, yet entirely void of value.

Choosing to ignore them isn’t ignorance. It’s hygiene. We’re not avoiding ideas - we’re sweeping trash off the pavement.
