Do You Feel Irrelevant? Why Some Older Members Just Can’t Help Themselves

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

It’s hard to ignore — in almost every discussion, there’s always that one member who seems to:

  • Moan endlessly

  • Nitpick over trivial details

  • Correct everyone else

  • Remind us (again) how much more they know

It’s like some people hit a certain age and suddenly feel compelled to point out every flaw, as if it keeps them relevant. And when they’re not correcting, they’re complaining — about how things used to be better, how we’re all doing it wrong, or how "kids these days" have it easy.

So let’s ask the real question:

Is this about wisdom — or insecurity?
Do some older members just need to feel heard, or feel smarter, because they’re scared of becoming irrelevant in a world that’s moved on?

Not all older people behave this way, of course — some bring real value.

But others seem to thrive on being condescending for sport.

So, if this is hitting close to home... maybe ask yourself:
👉 Are you sharing wisdom, helping people — or just making noise? and a nuisance

You can't block people from posting, you can only place them on your ignore list. Gamma, a previously prolific poster, hasn't posted since late May.

You visited its profile. Visit it again as I have just done.   It  is still accessing the site: Last visited  Sunday at 09:26 PM

Perhaps a posting holiday or reincarnated under a new name. Whatever the reason, I am not losing sleep over its nonsensical infantile content.

Posts every day under two new names, as far as I can make out.

Back to the op,

As an old retired guy I'm not relevant to anything except as a source of funding for my wife and kids. But even when working full time I wasn't all that relevant.

To be sure, i don't know what braindead a$$wipe gave you a thumbs down for your info, but it wasn't me.

We're all irrelevant, and have been forever, except to me & mine.  Nobody cares, or should care about what we think or state, unless very like minded :coffee1:

How old are you, just as a comparison...........:neus:..............🤭

If you were not a Richard Cranium I would ask you to prove it. So please ignore this post.

Noted. There is always one malcontent. I suppose it is better than their driving around on a motorbike waving a sword.  🙂

Wow. New expression for me. I thought it was a term for a beer belly, but  Google says it means an alcohol induced  erectile dysfunction. Sometimes, I learn new stuff on here.

1. Many posters "facts" need correcting.

2. I've never referenced "how much more I know", you may infer that from my posts but that would be your problem.

3. Discussing other members is not allowed here.

Not quite.

While Liverpool Lou would like to correct everyone else, all he does is disagree with everyone else, usually without being correct.

Just curious did you take your shirt off, make a face like a lunatic and actually take that picture yourself? Seems like an odd thing to do but A+ for effort if so.

Why the ageist theme in the OP?

There seem to be younger members who fit the spec too.

i see mostly aggressive comments. such as. get of your lazy bum. stop commenting on this website and get a job. in your home country. you looser back home

Seems appropriate comments in a number of cases.

Hi Mr Smarty! How many members on this forum have a picture of themselves as avatar? Hmmmm....maybe even you get it now, but I have no big hope. Please try!
