Thai Developer Buys 500 Passenger eVTOL Aircraft

A groundbreaking deal has taken place as a Thai private firm signs up for 500 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from a Chinese developer.

Valued at $1.75 billion (around 62 billion Thai baht), this transaction marks the largest single eVTOL order in China’s burgeoning industry.

Pan Pacific Co., a leading Thai property developer and infrastructure investor, has partnered with Shanghai Volant Aerotech Co.

The historic agreement was inked alongside China National Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation (CAIEC) at the International Advanced Air Mobility Expo in Shanghai.

CAIEC will support the infrastructure for low-altitude flights under this collaboration.

Dubbed the VE25-100, or commercially branded as Skylar, the ordered eVTOLs boast a hybrid wing design, reported Daily News.

Each aircraft accommodates six passengers, with a range of 200–400 kilometres and a cruising speed of 235 km/h, according to the producer.

Delivery of these aircraft will be phased post-receiving the Certificate of Airworthiness from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

The eVTOLs are destined for the Maldives, Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, and parts of Africa, intended for passenger transport, aerial tourism, and emergency rescue missions.

I learned that on my first visit to BKK in 1999. Got to look down too, or you might get flushed down the sewers to Jomtien.

Pedestrian crossing: Look left then right then left again then up then run (or stay where you are).

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like they are gambling a huge chunk of money on a risky new product.

Make or break type of situation

Although alternative forms of high-speed transportation are desperately needed in Thailand I wonder if a project like this would even be approved. It would appear that the Air Force has such tight control over the airspace from what I understand it's difficult to get permits even for private planes here much less helicopters.

I picture a small group of elites making an obscene pile of money off this "transaction".   I wonder if any of these devices will actually fly, or will they all end up in some out of the way piece of land.

500 aircraft needs a lot more pilots to run a service, I wonder how many will operate in Thailand, even if they can all the approvals?

Finally, a replacement for the Hua Hin to Pattaya ferry!

I don’t think they are primarily for use in Thailand.

Sounds to me like the Thai guy is buying from the Chinese manufacturer and intends to flip them to 3rd world countries for a quick buck. Maldives is specifically mentioned, so I guess a few will go there

Well, they might need a lot off spares.

Now let me see :

”The People’s Daily is the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party”.

Excellent.

On a related note, the only Pan Pacific Co I can find in property development on DBD company website is Chinese owned.

Make that any Thai driver

Think I might push the boat out and buy ...say 10....first time around.

Beyond that....I hope and pray these are never allowed to be used by private individuals wanging around the countryside and cityscapes......at least you stand some chance of surviving a car crash.

Good luck eVTOL in Thailand!image.jpeg.f1cee03fefa387cfabe67be12d3e8709.jpeg

Aviation crew reports crewed trials planned for late 2025.  Reports of 3 to 5 prototypes being built in 2025.

Past 6th round of funding.

My questions are which buildings in Bangkok have landing pads they will be allowed to use?

How much will it cost for an hour, distance, per person?

I see maybe 5 total being used for tourism, high net worth individuals.

The other problem is times.  Different people will want to travel at many different times and I don't know what the ceiling is for 2 or 3 people to use the aircraft.

Lastly.  They already have Helicopters that can travel at similar speeds and distances.

Bangkok to Pattaya is listed at 186,500 baht for 5 people.  I'm assuming you would probably depart and land at the airport and not a building rooftop.

Imagine the consequences of air collisions between these vehicles. . . :crying:

"Hello, hello.....Can you call back this line is not too good"

It's an 'Intent to buy' deal not a firm contract.

It carries 5 passengers, not 6.

The sixth occupant is a pilot.

Wow, talk about missing the entire point of a VTOL (vertical take off and landing) aircraft, it will most certainly not be used from airport to airport, they already have airplanes for that!

That'll stop the forum's brave taxi meter crusaders from opening the door and jumping out when the driver refuses to turn on the meter. You know who you are.
