A nightclub manager from an Indian-owned venue in Pattaya has surrendered to police after being accused of assaulting a fellow Indian national and threatening him with what was initially believed to be a firearm. The incident, which allegedly involved unpaid bills and a dispute over jewellery, escalated into violence outside the Boss Club on Walking Street, South Pattaya. Police have charged the suspect with multiple offences, while the victim has vowed to pursue the case to court.

The altercation took place at around 04:00 on 26 September, when a wealthy Indian customer reported being assaulted by the manager and security staff of Boss Club. Reports suggested the dispute began over a necklace that was not returned, leading to the victim being dragged to the rear of the nightclub and attacked. The victim later filed a formal complaint with Pattaya City Police Station.

At midday on 1 October, the club’s Indian manager appeared at Pattaya City Police Station to surrender to Police Lieutenant Colonel Kosala Ngampong, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation. Accompanied by his lawyer, he handed over a lighter designed to look like a gun, which he claimed was the object used during the confrontation. Police laid charges under the Firearms Act, unlawful detention and assault, while the manager denied all allegations and sought bail with a cash deposit of 100,000 baht.

A close associate of the manager stated that he and the victim had known each other for about five months and were on friendly terms before the dispute. On the night of the incident, the manager reportedly received a call from staff saying the victim had left without paying an outstanding 450,000-baht bill and had gone to another venue opposite the club. When asked to return and settle the bill, the victim allegedly responded with insults, prompting the confrontation during which the manager admitted striking the victim’s leg with a wooden stick, but denied use of a real firearm.

The victim, however, maintains that a genuine weapon was brandished and insists there was no misunderstanding. He has confirmed his intention to pursue legal action, stating that he was directly harmed and that no third parties influenced the case. He is expected to return to the police station to identify the suspect formally and prepare for legal proceedings.

He treated everyone in the club to a drink. Ten beers and a whole lot of straws. 😀

Crikey, Over 40 no work permits.

I'd say Pattaya is going to see a significant reduction in Indians, 40 going home.
