Wise issues, advice needed

Featured Replies

Thanks in advance.

On Monday morning I sent 17,000 baht on Wise to a Krungthai account.

I have sent to this account for 5 years with no issues each week.

The money said "sent" immediately, however I did not receive it.

Yesterday I contacted Wise and they said it was sent and they sent me the transaction download.

So I got my fiance to call Krungthai and they said they use a feeder bank with Wise which is Kasikorn.

After contacting Kasikorn they say they sent it to Krungthai on Monday and they sent us the details and now Krungthai are missing the funds.

The account details are exactly same and correct as every other week.

Krungthai are of no help whatsoever.

Anything else I can do?

Thanks

You need to prove to Krungthai, provide them with details where it was sent/settled, sounds like Wise or Kasikorn can provide that

We sent them the email from Kasikorn saying the transfer was complete as well as Wise transfer download.

Basically Krungthai say the money was never sent.

That's why you need account details where at Krungthai it settled, say you need proof

Wise have done their bit, the dispute lies between Kasikorn Bank and Krungthai Bank.

You probably gone as far as you can as Joe Public. This is an interbank problem which you can't resolve under your own steam.

Try contacting Kasikorn's helpline and Krungthai's helpline. If that fails you could contact the Thai Banking ombudsman.

On your transfer receipt there will be a transaction ID. With that ID Kasikorn should be able to trace the incoming transfer, and provide you with a transaction ID for the outgoing transfer, with which Krungthai should be able to trace.

Yes thanks.

Kasikorn already traced the transfer and were able to tell my fiance the exact amount and time they sent.

They will only confirm that they sent to Krungthai.

They say for security reasons they won't give any more documentation.

We used that email to show Krungthai that it was sent to them.

My fiance spent hours on their helpline too.

We live in Hatyai and because of flooding cannot travel to the bank.

But we are going to try tomorrow morning but probably make no difference

You have to keep going till you find out what has happened , it can't have just disappeared unless it was stolen.
Maybe inform the bank that you are going to the police as you suspect it has been stolen.

Thanks.

Don't worry, won't give up.

It will be 4 days tomorrow.

Krungthai told us just before 5 they will escalate the issue as they know we are in Hatyai.

If the money doesn't arrive by Monday we will mention police.

I'm sending more funds in the meantime with Remitly tomorrow, but to a different account in Bangkok Bank, ha.

Cheers

If Kasikorn isn't willing to provide you with the transaction ID, then I have such a feeling there was no transaction. Nothing to do with security

That would be my guess also.  Kasikorn won't provide the transaction ID and KrungThai can't really do too much with an email saying the money was sent.  They need proof and that needs to come from the bank that claims to have sent the funds.

If even minimal customer service existed at all WISE would chase the money through.  But their normal response is "wait and see".  Which is probably fine insofar as the money will almost certainly arrive or otherwise be sent back, but is a complete failure in terms of delivering their promised service.  Which is what I would expect of them.

Wise can no chase anything. They provided the transaction ID and Kasikorn confirmed they received it. That is where the bucket stops for wise

Wise send the local transaction from their own Kasikorn account.  They can follow it though.  Nobody else can.

Maybe you should try to read other posts in this thread before shouting your ignorant drivel. Wise gives Kasikorn the order to send the money to KrungThai

Yeah I read it.  They would only confirm they sent the money but  not provide anything useful due to "security" BS.

So Kasikorn is lying, in my opinion, but that is not something Wise can control since they have given the order.

The power was off five days for nearly all of Hat Yai because of the flooding, it may well be that the money will turn up now power and internet are restored.

Thanks for all the replies.

My fiance asked Kasikorn for any tracking numbers or anything solid we could send to Krungthai and they said the only thing from their end is it says completed.

Anything they else they cannot share.

Talked to Wise on their live chat and they told me after 5 days to download the "tracking confirmation"  and bring it to Krungthai.

Tomorrow morning we will go to both Kasikorn and Krungthai branches in Central Hatyai and bring these as it's a holiday on Friday.

I've never used Remitly before but going to test it first with a small amount to her Bangkok bank.

I will post if there's any update tomorrow

Had none yesterday/today Wise to Bangkok Bank.

My fiance's opened her Krungthai account in Pathum Thani so I doubt it.

She called them too but no help:).

Also we did a transaction the Monday after the flood with Wise and no issues.

Sorry, I assumed the bank branch was in Hat Yai

As Kasikorn is Wise's partner bank, their "feeder," can't Wise put pressure on Kasikorn to cough up the information?

That sounds like BS, ask for the manager

We are going to the bank shortly.

Spoke to Wise again who said if money not received by tonight to send them bank statements tomorrow so they can try and trace the money.

Thanks all

Indeed, why can't Kasikorn at least provide the OP with a credit advice note - as they would probably have had to in any event, had the missing 17k formed part of a 40k/65k monthly transfer for IMM marriage/retirement extension purposes (in order to prove its foreign origin)?

At 10am we went to Krungthai Central Hatyai.

Enormous queues but staff extremely helpful and they contacted Kasikorn.

The money arrived in my our bank at 12:16pm and it was different this time.

It said "Adjust inward remittance".

Thanks to everyone who posted.

I also sent money with Remitly earlier to Bangkok bank and it arrived within a minute.
