A 52-year-old man has been mauled to death by dogs in a forested area near a watermelon farm in Kamphaeng Phet province, leaving his family of five children without their main breadwinner. The incident has sparked concern after the dogs owner attended the funeral but has not discussed compensation or assistance. Police have confirmed an investigation will proceed after funeral rites are completed.

The victim, identified as Mr Pheyao, 52, from Pang Sila Thong district, was found dead in a teak forest near a watermelon plantation in tambon Pho Thong. His body was discovered face down with extensive bite wounds, including severe injuries to the back of the neck and chest. The family has been holding funeral rites at Wat Nong Kai Fa in tambon Hin Dat, Pang Sila Thong district.

According to relatives, the victim was found in the late evening, after family members searched for him when he failed to return home, locating his motorcycle and mobile phone near the plantation before discovering his body nearby. Investigators found signs of a struggle over a distance of more than 10 metres, along with blood-stained branches near the scene.

The victim’s wife, Mrs Montha, 57, said she was out of town on the day of the incident and had been unable to contact her husband throughout the day. She described her husband as a hardworking and honest man who supported their five children and two grandchildren. She expressed fears that the case could stall and called for accountability from the dog owner.

The couple’s 16-year-old daughter, Sudarat, said she and her 17-year-old brother found their father’s body after searching the plantation in the evening. She said her father had been the family’s main provider and that she is now worried she may not be able to continue her studies. The family has appealed for justice and assistance to ensure the case proceeds properly.

The victim’s employers,  Mr Sant, 38 and Ms Somying, owners of the watermelon farm, said the victim had worked for them for more than two years and was well respected in the community. They stated they remain fearful of entering the land, as the dogs involved have reportedly still been seen in the area. They urged dogs owners to act responsibly to prevent similar incidents.

Matichon reported that police from Pang Sila Thong Police Station said they will summon the victim’s family and the dog owner for questioning after the funeral. Legal proceedings will then be initiated in accordance with the law, with the cremation taking place on 20 December.

The entire pitbull race needs to be eradicated.   No need to wait until they attack someone.    Those dogs come from Hell.

And this is why these attacks continue..  People care about compensation, not about ensuring it won't happen again.

Legal action...    how ? a tiny pay out and face saved.

The dogs need to be destroyed - immediately - no other response and whether that response is inhumane or not is irrelevant, the dogs are not human, they are not safe around humans - people, especially children need to be protected.

These dogs - world-wide - should not be in existence - they present a disproportionate level of danger to humans compared to all other domesticated animals.

Who needs 5 dogs yet alone 5 pit bulls ?.....😠

The planet does not need these devil dogs.

Kill them all.

We will have the dog-lovers coming along and suggesting that this is the fault of the onwers and not the dogs.

They won't be wrong - but i'd go as far and suggest that this is the fault of 'humans' for breeding these dangerous species into existence.

Yes, a loving home would see these dogs well trained, well looked after and not a threat to humans... but there is always a caveat - which is, until they aren't...   When the instinct to attack has to be trained out of these dogs for for them to be safe social family pets - then there is something wrong.

Conversely, you can do nothing with a lab or a poodle and they go 'off the rails' with far less frequency and when they do the consequences are of course far less severe.

They type of dogs should not be allowed out without a leash and muzzle and certainly ownership should be limited to certain numbers and owners checked they are responsible enough to own one .

If in public, they should be leashed.   it is the law.

There's a farang/Thai couple at local park with 2 aggressive dogs.  I told them if their dog gets within striking distance of me or my dog again, I will kill their dogs.

Now all the retards that say every pit bull should be eradicated ! It’s the owners fault, he’s the one that should be punished! I’ve only ever had pit bulls and all have been super soft , well trained dogs, that do not wonder around freely. A lot of Thais just get them for gaining face and are piss poor at actual training and supervision!
Throw in a f lazy police farce and this is the situation, as I bet the owner lets them roam around often .
RIP , hope the owner gets taken for everything he has!

if it was 5 pit bulls that killed a man who attacked a child, the same people condemning the dogs would be praising them. so without facts of dogs upbringing or the situation which caused the death let's just point a finger and take the non thinking route.

There should be no hesitation in the response to this tragedy, this dog should be put down within 24 hours, no questions asked, no appeals, just take that horrific monster out and prevent him from ever consuming one more breath of oxygen.

This story will continue as long as this "beast" count as dog and protected by law. No dog owner feels any responsibility.

scubascuba3 has it spot on.  Jail the Owner and shoot the muts ! Further impose a ban throughout Thailand on all fighting dog breeds.

When there are so many different friendly breeds of dogs (big and small) to choose from why does anyone want to keep pit bulls?  They don't even look attractive. Maybe you could let us know what it is that encourages people to keep them.

When I lived in Taiwan my neighbour had 4 pitbulls, 2 males, 2 females. They were a delight. Friendly and a lot of fun. They were well trained and cared for by their owners. a Taiwanese couple.

Expats / Tourists have a real and justifiable complaint about the dogs that roam Thailand barking, chasing, nipping, biting, and on occasion ... killing innocent children, women, and men.  We (me included) complain, but what do we do?  Nothing.  While the fact is because of defamation laws, and "local politics" it is a fool's errand to raise much of a fuss, since one will quickly learn the "the road to hell is paved with good intentions."  I do have an idea though, that shields "complainers" from Thai authority:  What if we all reached out to our embassies and insist that they publish "Travel Advisory / Warning for Thailand: Dog Attacks."  Let that get into the foreign press and once tourist numbers decline ... then, just maybe ... we will get their full attention.

You can't possibly be comparing the people and culture of Taiwan to up - country - Thai - farmers and the packs of near feral dogs they feed.
