Krungsri Bank Daily Limit Transaction Change By Them

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Over night my phone recieved a message into my Krungsri Bank app advising me that my daily limit for all transactions has been set at 50,000 baht. I didn't request this and, upon opening the app and trying to change the limit to a higher amount, I found that 50,000 was as high as I could go. Why is the bank doing this and, as far as I'm concerned, it's not right that they can do this. I know, this is Thailand and they can do what they want. I have other bank accounts with different banks and have not received any messages from them about my daily limit.

I asked my Thai wife about it and she said it was because World War 3 is about to start and the banks don't want a run on money being withdrawn. This brings me to another topic, my wife is convinced WW3 is fast approaching. I assume she is forming such an opinion through information from news outlets, social media etc. I would be interested to know if any other Thai wives have been expressing this opinion. I live in Surin about 70 klms from the Cambodian border so the border war might be influencing her thoughts.

The weapons have been supplied by the Karen Rebels in Northern Myanmar, and the instructors are foreign veterans of various conflicts. So your wife's opinion of impending doom must be factual🤣.

They're tailoring limits to suit spend patterns. You probably don't make many high value transactions so they're making sure if your account gets hacked then no-one else can.

Inconvenient when you want to pay that big bill, so find out the routine for that now before it hits you.

from the news back in August, 2025

Thailand tightens mobile banking transfer limits

B50,000 daily cap for children and elderly opening new accounts part of fraud-protection policy

The Nation Thailand

19 August 2025

·

Bank of Thailand plans to limit daily transfers to 50,000 baht to reduce fraud risks and protect consumers from scams, with new measures in place by 2025.

The Bank of Thailand (BOT) on Tuesday announced that it is introducing new measures to limit the financial damage caused by scams.

Daranee Saeju, Assistant Governor for Payment Systems and Financial Consumer Protection, said that due to ongoing concerns regarding fraud, especially from scammers and call centre gangs, the BOT plans to introduce a daily transfer and payment limit of 50,000 baht. This measure aims to prevent significant losses before victims realise they have been scammed.

You can change this limit, maybe up to 2.0 M baht, by visiting your bank, maybe setting up facial scanning.

Thanks TT, I hardly use the account as it is my lump sum for my marriage visa so you are right.

Well I live in Rayong and have not heard anything about it. Would be interesting to know which area this is happening in. Hard to believe the Thai government would allow this to happen.

Happens everywhere these days. One of my European banks a few weeks ago also put limits on how much I can transfer daily.

My feeling is that something else than scammers is in play here

For large amount of money transfers, its going back to the 'old day's where we had to go to the bank in person, so to make a transfer.

Same for me. Treated like a geriatric patient. It s.cks.

Wasn't that in Thailand I would immediately close the account.

(Krungsri recently opened and still no way found to pay my PEA bill. Only for MEA. No wonder the branch is always empty)

My Kasikorn account cash daily withdrawl amount was lowered from 30k to 20k without import from me. This also applies to "Scan Pay", however transfers of higher amounts work.

I enquired at my Bank and was informed 'Thai government decision'.

Imagine if (when) there's no option to keep cash handy available.

a) get it from the horse's mouth; see the bank branch in charge of your account with original papers and request reinstatement of previous limits; otherwise change the bank
b) the bank phobia by Thai banks has nothing to do with WW3 and other soothsayer assumptions your apparently opinionated wife might have gotten. Stay focussed and non-biased, everything else is dangerous or costly in the Land of Funny Hats and Fortune Tellers

Can you make a transfer physically from bank to bank if you go to the bank ?

I just got my mobile app yesterday, and are aware as well. Seems I will still use my BBK account on the side as well or have they changed the bank application limits to?

I just got my own phone number and started dealing with the banks and apps now. Been without bank app for 18 months now or so. And for tax records I seriously wanted only two bank accounts in one bank for less paperwork. One saving and one spending.

My SBC card tells me that I can transfer up to 100 million. But it won't let me pay for a Baht 260 Lazada order.

As to WW3, let's hope so. There's a lot of rubbish on this planet that needs clearing out.

Yes, my wife has said similar things. She seems to get her "news" from TikTok.

As for Krungsri I will have to check to see if my limits have changed since yesterday. As I was typing this I received two messages from KBank that they have changed the maximum daily transaction limit. The trouble is they did not say what the new limits were.

Ttb did this a long time ago. Besides fraud protection its also an anti money laundering tactic.

Indeed. Back in Sept I got a notification from TTB to attend a branch to set up facial recognition, which I went along and did.

A couple of weeks later I tried to do a transfer which failed. I was about to go along and see what was up but then had a sudden thought about limits.

Sure enough, the daily limit had defaulted to 5000 baht, I could change it, but only up to 50K, any more you had to go and ask.

Kasikorn advised me this morning of a coming change, for "security purposes". I feel safer already.

Weirdly yesterday Krungsri raised mine to 1,000,000.

I quickly changed it back down to something in line with my needs, in low six figures.

As a follow up to my previous post I also received an email stating that the maximum transfer will be 50,000 effective 23 January.

When I checked today's limit is 49,999. Maybe they have finally coded their limits to 50,000 instead of >50,000.

You could e-mail them and ask them, they will reply.......coffee1

Krungsri limits are explained here: https://www.krungsri.com/en/personal/digital-banking/krungsri-app/user-manual/settings/manage-personal-limit

-Facial identity verification limit can be set between 5,000 – 50,000 Baht per transaction. Transactions exceeding 50,000 Baht will require facial identity verification by default.

-Total value of transactions must not exceed the daily maximum limit, You can set the daily limit in the app. I do not know, whether there is a limit on the daily limit?

BTW I find this facial verification a pest, many times I do have to make several trials before it will recognize me. restricting the transfer to 49,999 helps a lot and making 2 transfers below 50,000 is easier than a facial. :)

Thais older than 60, minors and all foreigners have their limits capped at 50,000. It's been advertised for months

NO, I am 60+ and my limit is far larger. It is all between you and your bank to agree a limit.

You can pay your PEA bill via direct debit. There is also a PEA Smart Plus app which I believe now allows payment with banking apps.

That is if the bank will agree. My Thai wife is under 60 and we went though all the channels to get her limits increased as she has been set the same limits as a foreigner. The end result, No!

you need two parties to agree any agreement.

I know. Done with Bangkok Bank or Kasikorn in the past.

With Krungsri I get a service not available message for whatever reason. Not worth to dig deeper.

Now use Krungsri just to split money, top up Truemoney, ATM etc.
