Why is Fox News not available on Karon cable.

Since about 11.00 on Thurday 10 August 2017 Fox News screen has bee replaced with 'serice is not running or scrambled'. Wife phoned Karon Cable that day. They prmised to call Phuket TV. Next day call back - some sort of BS answer about equipment problems and no idea whn would be sorted.

Now I realise that many out there hate FNC and I don't need your flames but if any viewers out there - what are you seeing on screen.

Thanks.

My cable system in Pattaya changed from Fox News to Sky News (UK, affiliated with Fox) about the same time. I won't be complaining. I know wrong forum, but that's a clue that something's up.

I have no inside info on the why, but there has always been a big difference in cable service in the southern part of the country.  When I was staying in Chumphon 10+ years ago there was one "channel" that would play pirated movies (I knew they were pirated because the movie would be a recent release not out on DVD yet).  A few years later we were getting MNET out of South Africa, and I knew something was unofficial about it because they would show that certain Jodie Foster movie that is banned, and no pixelating of cigarettes etc.  I can't say what the dividing line is, but I saw MNET from Chumphon to Hat Yai.   The service was a bunch of channels that played movies from throughout the English-speaking world and Africa, some of the stuff was quite good, like a modern-day African version of Oliver Twist.

And then one day it was gone, replaced by FN and Universal channel.  Thank goodness they kept the Aussie channel.

Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand have always leaned toward the right in US politics since I could remember, and I figured that had to do with the Cold War/Domino Theory.  Not long ago there was some controversy in Malaysia about whether to jail a guy who was a communist organizer in the 1980s.

I guess now, with the US president being all kissy-kissy with the Russians and the US can't get enough of Chinese-made goods, it's obvious to them the Cold War is officially over and, politically, the US is becoming a different country, with FN being the new voice.  The EU distancing itself from the US sends a message to the rest of the world.  It may be possible someone in the present Thai gov't is seeing the writing on the wall.

Or on the other hand just a shuffling of cable services  :saai:

Normally when a cable service picks up Fox, they get a complimentary connection for 1-3 years. After that you have to pay a fee.

Most cable companies will ignore the billings until FOX cancels the programming. So, I think it's a cost issue that Thai's don't want to pay and they will accept free CNN and BBC.

We have FNC on Karon Cable for 12 years. They dropped CNN years ago as no-one watches it.

I use CNC cable here in Kamala, today my fox news is gone,

....i used to like Fox ( for entertainment NOT NEWS) but when they canned Bill O'Reily......

last week lost "true series" and "true movie hits""

last month lost Universal"

seems the legal owners of the shows are cracking down

never got cnn but do get BBC

Sophon in Pattaya told me their contract ran out and they were re-negotiating. She said maybe another week, but then the girl that answers the phone would not necessarily be privy to contract negotiations.

I guess it might help if many viewers call in to complain.

Maybe give management a push push to get it done.

But maybe gained Warner?

Does everyone have a "box"?

My upstairs TV does not but downstairs does. Downstairs gets Fox News / Euro News/ France 24/ Aljazeera / Asia News (Singapore) / NHK (Japan)

From ThaiVisa Pattaya forum:

I've pieced together some data on Fox News from various sources and it appears that the license to broadcast Fox in Thailand expired on August 11.  In typical TiT fashion, one source said nothing can be done to bring it back and another said the the license will be renewed and payment is pending.  I contacted Fox-International in New York, they asked for the name of the cable provider - I gave them TMN and Sophon and told them that it appeared that Fox was out in all of Thailand.

Here's the response from Fox International in NYC:

Dear Mr. ____,

Thank you for the information. I’ve notified our team in Asia and will be in touch as soon as I have new information.
We appreciate all our Fox News viewers especially those living abroad.

Best regards,

In my place in Cha Am all I can get in the way of regular TV is UBC, which right now is the worst of the worst. I would love to get Fox but we get CNN and BBC.   I can't take the coverage of CNN for long........would trade most anything to get FOX News.

In Bangkok my condo has Charoen cable. Fox News is now replaced by Thai Visa TV which is no more than a low budget advertising channel. Yuk! Fox was mad but had some good stuff.

" This looks like a job for "KODI-MAN" "

I Tried KODI cCloudTV for Fox and others - None worked for more than 30 seconds, most not at all.

If you get KODI streaming working for Fox, please post how you did it.  Thanks!

Several off topic posts and replies to them have been removed. Topic is about how to watch Fox News not a commentary about it and politics.

Better question is, "Why isn't Fox News offered all over Thailand?" CNN stinks. And the BBC is leaning toward CNN. At least the BBC still has news report programs instead of those 'News Commentator Opinion Programs'.

Sophon cable had Sky News before, Fox News gone, replaced with colour bands, Pattaya.

My T.V. is blank for Fox News and another channel that was pretty decent. Show at least some nice old program from the U.S.

Fox you get use to it, I see it as more entertainment than anything else. It certainly isn't fair and balance and seem in between the shows they are more and more into country music.

I was getting sick of Universal aside from shows like Grimm, they show stuff over and over again I attribute to Thailand Broadcasters station just don't want to spend any money on U.S. program. I have seen all the Law and Order programs 1-20, Cold Case, seen King Kong, year in year out just over and over again. Then you start to like programs on Universal like Suits and they cut it off after a season. Without Universal I was looking forward to seeing Chicago Fire and Police now that is gone.

The got WB now, nothing to watch but Superman and girl!   Then there is no sports of any kind from the U.S. like NBA Basketball or Football.

Then the service every time it rains the service is out.

Interesting that Fox is off for so many people.  I have always had Fox News on CNS Cable in Kamala but I just checked and it is off.

Fox does stream live on You Tube.  And for me the quality is better than cable here.

Yes, I have had to stream FNC since it went off. But I prefer the cable service where i can DVD and miss all the ads. If they can't get the FNC back on then I might as well cancel my cable service.
