Are Thai Ladies Justified In Being Paid Every Month By Their Boyfriend/Husband, Or Does It Create The Perception Of Long Term Prostitution?

Featured Replies

In a country where if the man leaves a lady she is often unable via the legal system receive maintenance payments from him one can relate to her wanting security as my ex said to me she will not look sexy forever. How shallow she was? Therefore are monthly payments reasonable even if she works, or is it yet another reason why Thailand is 50 years behind the developed world? One also has to have some sympathy if a lady is left with young children? For many Westerners it feels like long term prostitution especially for the rich? Not sure if there are any Thai ladies in this forum but maybe their partners/husband on TV will let them speak. Thailand is a free country ruled by the army after all!

"Therefore are monthly payments reasonable even if she works, "

i think this is the question you are asking, the rest was confusing.

OK, If the ex.wife has kids  (his) of course, the man is obliged to

pay support for his Ex. and especially his kid(s),thats the moral

and acceptable thing to do, even if she is working.

If its his Ex. partner ,not married,no obligation,if she has kids (his) he

needs to help support them.but suspect few do.

What would YOU do ?

I am asking in general in the world of equality why do men still pay more than woman?

Men usually earn more than women and depends what country your in and what sort of person you are as to the payment responsibility outcome in a broken relationship and where does prostitution come into that.

I'm confused to what your getting at in Thailand more often than not a Thai man gives nothing to his ex or kids when they leave and vise-versa usually her or his family mucks in is my experience.

Westerners in Thailand do the same maybe not all but I have known of 3 farangies who just left thinking what they have left behind is enough.

One that went back to UK couldn't send any money cause he couldn't afford it allegedly because of the cost of living, believable I guess.

About what I was going to say.
As I often tell my faen it is "our" money.
I do not have a set schedule or monthly amount, but I did promise to "help out", and manage to get about the equivalent of her monthly wage (32,000 baht) to her one way or another. "Yes, darling, I would love to go visit your dad". I really do like the old gent, and do not mind paying for the airfare, etc.
She (almost) never asks for money. Sometimes she mentions e.g., "Oh, I sent xxx amount to my p'sao". Older sis  is in poor health and unable to really work the farm anymore. XXX amount x2 or 3 will mysteriously show up in waan jai's bank account.
No sick buffaloes, etc. I know the whole family. Once a couple of years ago a big storm damaged the roof.  I have photos, and was happy to contribute towards the cost of materials. In their community no labor cost as such, because the neighbors come together to help each other. A few bucks extra for food and drink and all are happy.
The Thailand I came to discover is there, negative opinions expressed on TV  not withstanding.
I will happily agree that the immigration situation, OTOH....?

the government of the United States of America and the Federal Reserve Bank gives me over 67,000 baht a month to spread joy and happiness in Thailand.

and that is what I do. And I feel really good helping out here and there.

Even in first world countries, marriage frequently resembles prostitution. This is nothing new. If you care about

a woman, you ought to be willing to help her out financially. My girl is not greedy and works full time as a restaurant supervisor. She keeps the condo tidy and finds me the best price on nearly everything. That's worth a "finder's fee" to me.

I can't agree, once I married my white wife, she almost immediately stopped banging me, and from what I've seen and been told almost every other western marriage turned out the same.

IMHO marriage hardly ever resembles prostitution (it's more like joining a monastery).

I would never live with a woman where she didn't provide sex whenever I wanted it.

Which is probably why I'm single.

That's the point so many "Westerners" seem to overlook. They have this impression that the women "back home" never ask for money and are more than happy to just spend their lives in the house, doing all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, kid-raising and "wifely duties" for free.
Because they don't give her a "monthly allowance".

But they forget that she (usually) has access to the "joint account" and spends whatever she wants from "his" paycheque. Oh but that is totally different than if he "gives" the money to her once a month (or whatever). Because if she takes it from a joint account she's a "wife" but if he gives the same money to her then she's a "gold digging hooker".

But take a "super stud" from back home, fresh off his (1st, 2nd, 3rd) divorce, let him loose in Thailand and he thinks that all women should be so grateful he is willing to sleep with them that they should stop whatever they are doing and spend the rest of their lives servicing him (for free). (There really are guys over here that think exactly like that. I've met them and they are not the studs they think they are. It doesn't usually take long to figure out why they have been divorced so often "back home".)

Most of them have NO clue that many of those women (and probably a lot of the men) have a family to take care of back (wherever) and that in this culture, the child (male or female) is often responsible to support the parents in their old age (instead of shipping them off to some old folks home like people do in countries that are supposedly "50 years ahead" of Thailand).

Supporting one's self on a low salary job is hard enough. Even harder when they may be sending half their salary home every month. Probably even harder if they are living with someone who won't even give them a pittance every month as a gesture for all they do in the relationship (even if that person is paying all the bills). Not to mention that the little extra "allowance" can go along way towards "teerak's" social standing in her home/village. ("Face" and "social standing" can be extremely important in one's home village, especially if people know she is living with a foreigner.)

(I've known girls that were living 3 to a studio apartment and sharing a single bed so that they could afford to send half their monthly salary home and that salary was maybe 4,500-5,000 baht a month.)

The "studs" also forget that (in most cases) over here, they aren't sharing a bank account with their teerak so she can't just take whatever she wants/needs every month. If they were married and she had access to the bank account then she (probably) wouldn't be asking for any additional money every month.
(But of course there's always the chance that those guys aren't the studs they think they are and could wake up one morning to find teerak gone and the bank account empty !)

I thought that was her brother !

I told a girl once that I thought her "uncle" was really her husband and she said "No no ! Look, you can see, we have same last name !" I told her that if they were married she would probably have the same last name as him as well." She didn't know what to say after that.

(Do the women change their last name after getting married (to another Thai) like people do "in the West" ?)

But by the time you have paid for all your girls, which you claim to have, you can't have much left to live on?

As technolgy improves the robots capable of giving "the happy ending", the traditional weapon/body part women use to get paid will lose its attraction and relevance. That benefits both sexes. Why? Because there is a difference between "having sex" and "making love".

let's be truthful?  There is an 'understanding' between an old foreigner and a beautiful 20+ younger girl. I don't need to spell it out but it's an exchange but not, obviously, prostitution.

A Thailand situation and question?

If the man is a foreigner then Yes, If it is a Thai man it is No!

No point in asking another Thai woman her opinion the above comments escape them.
