How did you get those figures????.....I see it as soon as the major restrictions have lifted on foreigners and airlines can resume flying like before as nobody knows how long it could take, but as soon is the lights are turned on again in Pattaya the flood gates will be opened to the Chinese, Indians like no tomorrow.

Thailand did not shutdown the Chinese coming into Thailand. China shutdown the Chinese leaving China. Opening floodgates has no effect if there is no water.

Just the beginning. This lockdown is not collective suicide, as I first thought. The rich survive. It's just making the poor even poorer, and sacrificing the poorest.  Disgusting to see the jokes c

Thai people deserve better than this.

well not so long ago the government were boasting about how well the Thai economy was doing - seems they want to keep the money for themselves - nothing new in that

Oh the irony!

Manna, sometimes or archaically spelled mana is, according to the Bible, an edible substance which God provided for the Israelites during their travels in the desert during the 40-year period following the Exodus and prior to the conquest of Canaan. It is also mentioned in the Quran three times. Wikipedia

Mana kept me reading till the end of the OP as I was hoping to read the story of Man b.

Be very worried . If the world keeps sinking as it is pensions and overseas investments will be crashing too . I warned about this ages ago and was laughed out of town . The world has stopped working and I have no idea when it will start again ! By the time it does none of us are going to have any money for luxury’s .

Not that worried, got my money in a UK bank and government backed pension.

If they both go down it'll be TEOTWAWKI and civil war.

I have several friends who were due to arrive this week and cancelled - it will be at least 12 months before they consider travelling again

as for China and India I wouldn't be so confident - India is in big trouble with this virus and China thinks they are over it which I very much doubt

Thailand would be very foolish indeed to open its borders to China or India any time soon - but then money and greed rules

This is extremely tragic. However, compared to the Europe and the USA there seems to be no discussion about further lockdowns producing even more unemployment. I was actually kinda surprised some provinces only having high teens of new cases and still decided that closing down all stores is the option to go.

Anyways, I respect Thailands decision and it's theirs to make. I hope the poor people will get out of this soon enough. Bless.

Also if you are the chief water buffalo to the village be prepared for a long line of people that want to borrow money off you .

The 5,000 baht monthly was aimed specifically for those with no payslip.  Lottery ticket sellers, motorcycle taxi drivers etc.

India is the 2nd largest population on the planet & is not having big problems as you state especially in comparison to the US. That is if you believe all the B/S anyway!

Anyone that has a lot of Thai friends on FB that are not well off will have seen them flogging off everything but the wife to get money in to find living.

Sadly though the wife could be up for rent by the night if it continues.

"porn as much stuff as they can" may not turn out to be a typo.

That is correct. Those on SS can get 7,500 as I heard? 3 months initially, but I heard it maybe extended to 6. My monthly business accounts should be due tomorrow, so I will be interested to see if the SS payments have dropped as I am lead to believe is the case?

The ancient Greeks invented a word for this type of sociopathic greed.."pleonexia"

Free food given out to the locals at many locations. Differ pub, a Thai restaurant on 2nd road near soi VC, Third road south of Pattaya klang, roaming white suv on 2nd road and beach road. From today also outside the Avenue near former McD, probably many more places to get a free meal.

My Thai gf sure picked the wrong time to get mad and break up with me and move to the polluted north to support herself. Now she can't return to Bangkok if she wanted, and how can I help her if I don't know what or who she's doing?

To lighten the mood. I heard some years ago 'porn' was the most searched word on Google, which in itself isn't too interesting. However, apparently the second most searched worm was 'pron'.

Might be a good idea to get the old fish nets out again!

I am in a quandary. Stuck in Australia after shutdowns.  I am still renting 1 bedroom place in Thailand with all my belongings inside and motorbike.  If it drags out too long I'll have to somehow break lease and get my stuff into storage.  Don't want others going through my stuff but might not have choice. So may need people to pack and send my stuff into storage?  Also meds in fridge.  Nightmare but can't afford to keep paying rent there and paying to live here with financial losses already due to COVID19.  What a nightmare.  This is unbelievable.  If I was back there I'd be helping out where I can. Have a vacant room.  Could have been shared, sub leased etc.

Weren't you raving how wonderful Thailand was handling the C19 outbreak, full of praise and admiration for the administration at keeping everyone safe?Another story said Thailand has 2 trillion baht of social security money saved and it looks like they will keep on saving in special bank accounts for an emergency just like this one.
