I wonder if there are any information available about whether Thai meat- seafood- and poultry-processing facilities have been tested for Covid-19 and what the results look like? Given, that US meat-processing facilies were super-spreader centers as were several pork-processing plants in Germany, and giving that the bird-flu several years ago had a likely starting point in industrial poultry-processing in Thailand... I wonder, if the government or relevant healthcare institutions have tested all these facilities in Thailand. Especially those west of Bangkok. The (un-)healthy working conditions for the staff and the cold/humid atmosphere in there are prime conditions for spreading Covid-19.
Else we might end up like Singapore, that had thought they won, only to be reminded, that they have lowly paid foreign workers living in cramped conditions, (un-)happily spreading Covid-19 all around.

It is not the food processing plants that need to be tested for Covid-19, but the people working in these plants need to be tested for SARS-CoV-2 if they are at risk of infection. This is the responsibility of the plant operators.

one idea:  meat packing =  freezing cold (aka freezers) =  super DRY cold air = ideal for disease to spread as your throat mucus is cold & specially DRY

 

winter in non tropic countries=  cold + dry air (heater) + no UV from SUN (low vit. D) = ideal for spread

 

shopping malls, airports, office =  no UV from sun + cold dry airco air = ideal for spread

They call it "ring fencing". That's what is happening in Victoria.

Almost literally you build a wall around a suburb, a series of buildings, or a city and declare that nobody can come in or out. If they do, they face armed police and prosecution.

In parts of China they have used it several times during this pandemic and during earlier similar health crises.

Remember back a few months, which isn't easy, because much has happened. But remember the film from China of people walking down the street, to be pounced on with a huge net wielded by the anti-virus police?

Remember those stories of people being locked in their buildings, doors welded shut? They relied on the government to feed and care for them because they had no option.

Couldn't happen here, we said. Couldn't happen in a democracy. Well, something very similar is happening in Victoria, and God only knows where it will finish.

The government has taken its suburban lockdown another step. Nine of the city's biggest housing commission towers have been quarantined for at least five days, possibly 14.

This ring fencing strategy may be necessary. Within days of the problem being identified there were 30 COVID-19 cases within the towers. Residents live close together, they mix widely. Some are cab drivers potentially taking the virus into the community.

Which means this time, Daniel Andrews must call in the Australian Defence Force. He needs guards. They know how to guard. He needs medical capability. They have doctors and nurses. He needs catering. They have chefs used to preparing mass meals, and equipment designed for mass preparation of food.

He needs Victorian police to be freed from the non-policing work so they can concentrate on law and order.

It is as obvious as it is simple. Daniel Andrews needs the military and must call them in. If he doesn't he risks heath and enforcement problems too ugly to contemplate.

Unlike the other states perhaps he has some basic ideological reason not to use the defence forces, who knows?

But whatever the reason, he must overcome his absurd prejudice. He must bring the army in to help. Now.

Are they testing for flu too? Coz that's deadlier than convid. 

They are testing food processing plants in Thailand for COVID-19 and that includes Salmon. You can even see a sign outside Oishi which states that the food is tested for COVID-19.

Shhh! Not to be asked in Thailand. The General will be unhappy.

Animal to human transmission seems to need live subjects which is why wet markets are the prime source for this and other pandemics. However food processing plants bring about superspreading due to the concentration of poorly paid often immigrant communities that work in them in cramped conditions mirrored by their living conditions
