Popular Post webfact Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 British nationals could be barred from entering Thailand under new proposals REUTERS FILE PHOTO for reference only British nationals could be barred from entering Thailand under new proposals from the Ministry of Public Health. The move is aimed at preventing the spread of the more contagious B117 strain of the coronavirus which is said to have originated from the UK. On Sunday, Dr Yong Poovorawan, from the Centre of Excellence in Clinical Virology at Chulalongkorn University, revealed that four British nationals - all from the same family - had tested positive for the new strain in quarantine after arriving in Thailand on 21st December. The Ministry of Public health has said it will now ask the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) to approve the ban on arrivals from the UK, Daily News reported. This is despite the mandatory quarantine requirements in place for any entering Thailand. It is not clear at this stage what that would mean for Brits who have already made plans to return to Thailand and have bookings in alternative state quarantine facilities. Thailand wouldn’t be the first country to ban arrivals from the UK following the discovery of the new strain of the virus. As many as 50 countries either have or continue to impose a temporary ban on flights from the UK. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-01-04 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 2 2 2
Popular Post A Los for words Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 So despite a clear COVID Fit to Fly test, insurance and 15 days ASQ, Brits won't be allowed to come in. What if they agree to buy a condo? 3 35
Popular Post internationalism Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 it's about travellers from the UK, not about british nationals. probably they would also barr arrivals from south africa and few other countries, where this mutation is already present. 9 1
phetphet Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 But what about their pre flight COVID test? Wouldn't or shouldn't that pick it up? All four not detected?
Popular Post Whale Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 What does it matter what strain they have if you are testing and ASQing them? They have the "Myanmar strain" here already, what happened to the quarantining of those nationals? Or the returning Thais "masseuses"? Ban the Brits by all means but ban all the rest as well. 8 1 2

Frame it as coming from the west, ignore the fact the recent outbreak started because of illegal, (but tolerated) foreign workers in Thailand oh and thai service personnel working in Myanmar, . Just a replay of the hard work they did to frame the initial epidemic as coming form the west, when it is fact was brought in by Chinese tourists. 28

Germany has found it in a dead patient from 2 months ago. But isolate one country, even when people entering from there must provide a negative test pre-flight and quarantine. Yes - ban them all from the UK indiscriminately when they've probably laid out thousands in advance to travel....your post would be funny it wasn't so serious. 22 3 1

Popular Post cyril sneer Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 UK should carry out less testing like Thailand do, it might be of more benefit They should also restrict which countries they let use their Oxford vaccine 20 1 3 2
Popular Post robblok Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 I see the point of banning people from the Uk to get in countries where there is no quarantine. The strain is just really bad and it thriving in the UK. But Thailand has state quarantine so what is the problem. Are they afraid that their standards are not up to spec ? I mean the precautions in the state quarantine are quite good tests are done and people kept isolated. I don't see why they should exclude Brits in this country. 18 1
Popular Post WineOh Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 They should never have opened the doors in the first place. British nationals are not to blame, the incompetent set of clowns running the country are! 18 3

Bender Rodriguez Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 if you pass the 15 days quarantine test, had a no covid test 72 hours prior, even from a hot zone... makes no sense, but hey, neither does 99 percent of people here 1

Not when it comes to incompetent management of a crisis it isn't. BTW due to the arcane rules of American politics, Trump was not selected by a majority of Americans in 2016 1 1 1 1

Voting for an incompetent set of clowns is one thing, if that's what the people want then so be it. Having an incompetent set of clowns forced upon you is out of your hands and you have no say in the matter. I would sleep better at night knowing that at least I had a choice in which people screwed my country up. Just for the record, I have never voted in my life and I never will ???? 5 6 1
Kelsall Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 A trial balloon. First the Brits and then the other countries. After that they will wonder why there are no foreign tourists. 1
Smilermike Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I'm betting it's already here since months. And not many countries were equipped to test for it then. And I'm betting thailand was not one of them. Allowing people in regardless of so called quarantine has opened pandora's box 1 1
Popular Post 2long Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 I think that they should backdate this, and start deporting British people, even those who have lived here for years and not even popped out of the country in ages. Time for a purge! And at the same time they should encourage Chinese to flow in. You know where this is going, don't you? ???? 1 1 4
BobBKK Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 Why Brits? nowhere else has this new Covid strain? I think once vaccines roll out to have a vaccine 'passport' is a useful thing - then allow free travel. 1
mr mr Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 hull lives matter. time to hide my uk passport and stick to being a friendly canadian. 2

Only if it is proven (is highly likely it is but vaccines have not been tested on this subjects) that you cant infect people after vaccinations. Right now they know that vaccinations stops or lessens covid they dont know if it stop the spread. 1 3

Popular Post 2long Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 I'm far from a conspiracy theorist, but I am becoming very suspicious about all this Covid nonsense. I don't for one minute think that the governments are colluding to control us, nor are the Illuminati doing it. But I really feel that the hugely wealthy drugs companies are doing all they can to make sure we all stay 'in fear' and only get glimmers of hope now and then. They're cashing in BIG TIME, and the politicians around the world are either stupid, spineless or corrupt (mostly all three). Why oh why are we supposed to believe that this regular-type virus (it's not the first corona, is it?) might be stronger than vaccines and that people can become reinfected? I think we all need to open our eyes a bit more, especially about the mainstream media we believe in. 2 2
