I thought that the 5 generals and 47 colonels were the ones that stole the Covid overtime payments from their fellow officers?

More committees formed; more free lunches; more hot air spouted by self-important big-wigs resulting in no action taken.  Thailand will always be a banana republic until they get a proper police force.

The move to legalise gambling like seat belts in the back of pickups will never become law because the police won't allow it.

Thats just in one area, imagine how many across the country,

I often wonder how they choose the underlings who have to take a fall? And how many are needed for a particular "issue"?

Seniority? Family ties? Ability to pay for protection? Lottery?

Only 20, no big surprise, if you only look under one rock.

Turn over 1000 rocks and the hunt will be bountiful.

call me jack's total surprise.

Another "seen to be doing" which will just fade away and hear no more about while the deck is re-shuffled.

Just goes to show how folk with an OK gov job, pension etc, will stiff the thing they are actually supposed to be taking care of for a few quid on the side.

They should be prosecuted, sacked and pay their debt to society.....☹️

They should round up the 50 or so honest people and whistle-blowers and <deleted>-can them.  Then they could get back to business for a couple years at least without bad press.

I had a very bad Thai boss 40+ years ago.  I don't think he had anyone killed, but he seriously threatened a lowly co-worker.

One gets lackeys who are greedy and not terribly smart, then then blow in their ear.  It helps of you are a bit crazy and they are afraid of you and you drive a Benz.

For sure, this number of Police and officials is only a fraction of the ones involved.

Only "suspected"?  Even the dimmest in government know that there would have been widescale involvement of police and state agencies. To allow such a huge number of illegals entry to Thailand meant a lot of blind eyes or assistance was given.

Until it's all forgotten about. As usual, with never any follow-up by the media.

They DID quarantine all the imports, yes?

The real problem is, they will not go after these guys. Not the high ranking guys, not the provincial authorities, and certainly not the army, or the police. They are all corrupt beyond imagination. And the level of corruption simply escalates, the further up the food chain you go. They police and army are not expected to be honest, and they are not expected to engage in law enforcement, traffic or public safety, on any level. It is an irrevocably broken and dysfunctional system.

Anything hyperbole to the contrary, is just a smoke screen, intended to deceive the most naive amongst us. They will transfer a few guys, and maybe even make a few arrests, as pure theatre. They will not even go as far as trial, much less prison.

The Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT) is one of the most feeble and ineffective of all the tools Prayuth has used to deceive the people into believing that he is fighting corruption. Who was the last high level authority, in the police, immigration, the army, or the active administration they arrested, charged, tried convicted, and sent to prison? Nobody. Zero. Nunca. Nada.

Because Prayuth has had a mandate from the beginning to protect the elite, the super wealthy who are guilty, those that are connected, and those who are in power. Just think Dark Tao. Just think Red Bull. The list goes on, and on, and on. Only the most naive amongst us believe he or the so called anti corruption guy, secretary-general Mana Nimitmongkol are sincere about this.
