PHUKET: Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew has hailed the arrival of the flight from Frankfurt yesterday (Apr 3) as a positive sign, saying that Phuket is ready to receive international tourists.

Governor Narong was among the official welcoming party ready to receive the arrival of just 16 passengers, 13 foreigners and three Thais, on Flight TG912 from Frankfurt. The plane initially landed in Bangkok with 130 tourists on board, before continuing to Phuket.

Governor Narong explained that the Frankfurt flight stemmed from talks between Phuket tourism industry representatives with Thai Airways International in Bangkok in December to urge THAI Airways International to arrange direct international passenger flights to Phuket and for its dometic carrier subsidiary THAI Smile to reduce airfares to Phuket to help boost the number of domestic tourists visiting the island.

Those are huge numbers 16, it is a start anything is better than nothing right?

From the looks of the photo when it comes to appearance and image you just came off a flight go through security and wonder if you are at the airport or hospital?  Like HomePro, there are more workers than customers?????

Don't exaggerate like TAT. It was 13.

Let's hear from these plucky tourists about their fantastic experiences!

Can Thai Visa get statements from them? )  Are there any investigative journalists on this website?

Why do we only hear from the gov't?

Be glad you don't have to read German's Denglish.

They get bashed from their own people in their countries as soon as someone remarks that they escaped the European lockdown.

They were 13 tourists in the first flight from Frankfurt.

Where did the "130 tourists on board" come from?

Do you think that Phuket is entitled to more than 10% of the tourists coming from Frankfurt to Thailand?

Isn't an international flight via BKK better than no international flight?, as has been the case for one year and four days.

When you are taught almost from birth never to question, that is a pretty poor quality for a journalist to have. Especially an investigative journalist. Then you add in the defamation law if you report anything dodgy going on, and you know why this website and any other publication doesn't have them.

Ridiculous comment by the Governor. Nothing but a PR stunt.

And how are bankrupt Thai Airways in a position to announce potential future flight schedules? They should dtick to selling fast food at the 7-Eleven.

Unbelievable !   and this is news ?    This is an absolute embarassment......  For Gods sake test at the airport, five days quarantine and stop this fear mongering madness before the whole shibang goes down the gurgler........  And open the Embassies and consulates because Thailands Evisa platform is so difficult to comply with, that it would be easier getting into a mosque with a bacon sandwich and a bottle of whisky........     It's easy........ take your hands of it !     It worked very well before and the country was rich through tourism......... Fact.......

Did they pick up a plane-load of domestic Thai passengers in Bangkok who wanted to fly to Phuket? If so, who's at the bigger risk, the Thais from the viruses still carried by the vaccinated Germans, or the Germans from the viruses carried by the unvaccinated Thais living in our new Covid hotspot of Krung Thep, lol?

In reality neither. Vaccinated people can't catch Covid so can't pass it on. Equally, an unvaccinated person with Covid can't pass it on to a vaccinated person.

A vaccinated person passing it on to another vaccinated person has more chance of winning the lottery.
