Depends  how much you  value  your  life with covid and opening a window is  inviting  in Covid, just think how  many people they will have had contact with in an evening of stops.

The discussion was about wearing a mask, surely opening the window and breathing all over a Thai policeman without a mask is the first consideration. Then take back your licence, put it down, and employ hand sanitizer.

Some maybe but  Ill stick to what I thinks  safe based on reason , wearing a mask in a car with only  yourself in their or even the Wife  is ridiculous, I mean Ill be shagging her later, do I need to wear the mask  then or  only if its out on the land 20 rai walled  not  open to the public after all I would be outdoors.

So are you inferring that when you are shagging her later it could be outside in your walled 20 rai ?????????

I agree , but refusing to obey a police instruction will expose you to a huge risk

That depends for example we have a RED  box  on our  house, for those that dont know the Police get  some of their funding through this  illegal practice whereby (  more or  less  protection money) you pay them 1000 baht a month to "help" you with any problems at your address.  If I get any problems with the Police I call "our man" he deals with it on our behlaf, its  helped on a few  occasions over the years.

Avoid any problem all together by NOT  opening the window, Police can see the licence through my glass.

Oh I agree, and even feel the same on a motorcycle..... but the rule being introduced is a blanket one and should be accepted. Too many damned fools think they are above the rules for some reason I cannot fathom.

Well at least we can agree  on something, some rules are ridiculous, I dont disagree  about mask wearing but under this circumstances its nonsense. Just like wearing a mask while  swimming.

Well one can walk or jog on the beach, and take a swim in the sea. Something I would appreciate....

Do you find that is acceptable to them? Also he may want to see more than the licence and you have to be able to hear him.

Good point made there about handing over your license I hadn't thought about that, the time I got stopped he didn't ask me for my license, I suppose it wouldn't make any difference if he had gloves on or not,

I sure would appreciate how "when leaving your home" is defined. I live in a condo: does my "home" only apply to the room or does it include hallways, lifts, lobby?

The greatest danger would be in the lifts I think. I've gone around and around with mgmt here regarding worthless security won't even remind people to wear masks "We can't do that" is what girl at office said today.

I was assaulted by young Thai (expletive) after I suggested he wear a mask, pointed out sign in lift & then went to security in lobby ("I don't know, I don't know..." he said while this turd punched me.

They remembered my reporting that incident in office this morning when I once more tilted with windmills. The girl said I could take photos and send them to police... "Why don't security? Why don't they simply remind people to wear masks?" Sheesh. She tried trick of "No speak English" but I speak enough Thai to make that not work....

So if anyone knows officially where your home ends and commons begins, I'd appreciate it greatly. 20210425_081029.thumb.jpg.4b130320bd69a4b2557cc5267239ee5b.jpg

Surely that is quite obvious, you don't own the whole building and anywhere on the outside of your door is communal property.

Obvious to you and to me. Not obvious to management and security, or rather, they choose to ignore that. Might have to confront people about behavior and they are loathe to actually doing what should be there jobs. Did I mention that while talking with office woman, I noticed another woman in office without a mask on!!! She was hastily putting one on. Same thing happened month or so ago!

Just a heads up, they are enforcing this at the Dolphin circle.  Just rode thru there.

3 officers detaining motorbike riders checking to see if they have a mask on.

They waved me over my face shield covers most of my face but thank goodness I had my mask on.  They motioned for me to lift my shield, saw my mask and waved me on.

There was one Falang to the side with his hands in the air looks like he was arguing with the officer probably getting his 20,000 b. ticket.

So, keep the thing on when you are out.

Also, for all that like to stick their uncovered big noses over the top good luck.

There is a sign on BR showing the proper mask covering, and a big X over the mouth only covering.

So, its the law cover it all your you may find yourself out 20k.

Emdog winning the 'Grumpy Old Man’ popularity contest....   no one likes a ‘do-gooder’ telling others what to do...

..... not surprised he was assaulted, he’d get told to Flook-off in most countries if he were to do around telling others what to do.

Imagine being at the traffic lights next to Emdog - he gets out of his car, knocks on your window and tells you and your wife that you should be wearing facemarks !!!!

......Thus... to answer the question: [So if anyone knows officially where your home ends and commons begins, I'd appreciate it greatly]....  I can’t really answer that, but I can answer where your business starts and where it ends and it ends before being a sanctimonious tool and telling others what they should be doing !!!!

"no one likes a ‘do-gooder’ telling others what to do... " It is supposedly the law here, or at least for next 20 minutes. and yeah, I do get "grumpy" when people put my life (and others) at risk because they can't be bothered to do a very simple thing: wear a mask when in enclosed areas, like lifts.

"Imagine being at the traffic lights next to Emdog - he gets out of his car, knocks on your window and tells you and your wife that you should be wearing facemarks !!!!"

You'd have to imagine it because it would never happen! Jeez that is stupid. I don't give a damn what you do in your airspace, but when you are in a shared airspace I need to go through (a lift, hallways, lobbies, for example) yes, your choices can lead to my (and others) possible illness and/or death. Your rights end where my breathing begins.

"I can't really answer that..." well then....why did you post?. "...it ends before being a sanctimonious tool and telling others what they should be doing !!!!" I'll try to keep it simple: it has to do with current rules in Chonburi from the government The government is telling people what they should be doing. As usual, it lacks clarity.

You acknowledge that with the absurd literal reading of gov rules might lead a person to conclude a mask is needed even driving in your own car.

Condos are different from freestanding houses: part is private and part is shared with others. Technically I own a fraction of lifts, lobbies and hallways.... that is why I asked for someone to clear it up regarding what is commons. You couldn't do that.

This went into effect throughout Chon Buri province on Monday and I was shocked walking around Jomtien today seeing so many people STILL without masks or with them in hand or slung down under their chin, and almost all that I observed were Farangs!

These selfish and stupid people are too ignorant to realize the seriousness of the current situation, or just don't give a damn about others.  Either way, they are not going to do "the right thing" until they are forced to.

Police need to make some arrests that make it into news media to drive the point home I think.

Absolutely agree with this, and pretty much all of your post.

But, I have also witnessed too many expats who come here and for some inexplicable reason start telling others, foreigners and locals what they should be doing.....  I find it highly amusing.

Seriously though - if someone gets in a lift and you think your life is in danger because they are not wearing a mask you should get out. If someone is going to assault you because of the manner in which you told them to put on a mask, your wellbeing is at greater risk from factors well beyond covid.

You're right. Young Thai guy in lift, no mask. I pointed to sign about wearing masks when leaving room, asked in Thai "You understand, right?" When we got to lobby asked security to inform him (security went into full turtle mode "I don't know") meanwhile the punk taunted me "You want to fight?" (repeatedly) "No, I'd like you to wear a mask" upon which he gave me a good whack. Security did nothing... So yeah I now wait for another lift or take the stairs, down at least...

Not really your place to try and enforce Thai law.

Better to mind your own business, and avoid Thais breaking laws, unless you like pain.

You tried it once, you got a slap (entirely predictable by the way), be grateful it wasn't worse.
