BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was fined 6,000 baht ($190) on Monday for breaching rules aimed at containing the coronavirus by not wearing a face mask, the governor of Bangkok said.

"I informed the prime minister this was a violation of rules", Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang wrote on his official Facebook page. The move came after a photograph of Prayuth appeared on his Facebook page showing him not wearing a mask in a meeting. The photograph was later removed.

The prime minister made an inquiry to city hall about the restrictions, which specify that masks should be worn at all times outside residences, prompting his fine, said Aswin.

Complete and total scripting and fabrication on the back of ‘politicians breaking rules’ follows by ‘stop pestering our politicians’...  some halfwit who everyone thinks is sharp figured it would be a great idea to present the PM as ‘one of us’......  Wow, even the PM is not beyond the law !! this guy is amazing, what hero he can be fined like the rest of us...

.... juvenile mindless....

And the latest set of rules highlight the juvenile and idiotic mindset - masks in private cars.

My Wife’s friend is a news reader and just told my Wife that they will have to wear a mask when reading the news !!! - just dumbflookery at its heights...

Well, that is my good laugh for the day.

Now how about calculating a bill for Khun Anutin, who has gone bare faced pretty much throughout. (other than days he was promoting mask wearing on camera of course!)

I wonder if he will personally pay it or will it be put down as "expenses"?

Dissent amongst the 'good' people!!

I guess the governor reckons he is safe at the moment and maybe he is but I reckon the great leader has a long memory (though arguably not as long as his nose when he is making promises) time will tell...

I wonder how much the fine would be for using guns, paid for by the citizens, to steal their democracy from them.

Hmmm ... THB 6,000: time to start a GoFundMe to help out?

Amazing how the police are stopping cars to fine people without a mask (if another person is in the car), yet they could never get scooter riders to wear a helmet and can't get everyone to have a driving license.

Fine for no license is only 200 thb ... riding with no helmet is only 400 thb (passenger is 800 thb).  No mask in a car is up to 20,000 thb ...

I think it was 20,000 cash or 6000b plus a few push ups....

Does anyone actually believe this is anything else than a PR stunt to promote mask wearing?

A PR stunt to prove he's not above the law (which he is).

I've asked before, who is writing for these guys, a Thai firm or an international consultancy.

He should spend a week in a field hospital as punishment.

40% probably kicks back to him anyway.

Why only 6000?? It should be 60.000. The man tells every one to follow the rules and he doesn't do himself. As an example shut him up in jail as they threaten the normal people too
