Vaccine choice: Price of Moderna set by Thai Private Hospitals' Association

A meeting of the Thai Private Hospitals' Association yesterday set the price for the Moderna vaccine.

It will cost 1,900 baht per jab meaning that two will cost 3,800 baht.

This price includes the vaccine, hospital charges and insurance.

All private hospitals in Thailand who offer Moderna will charge the same.

ThaiPBS reported that ten million doses of Moderna are being bought by the association through the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO).

These will arrive according to a schedule. Four million in October, one million at the start of next year and the rest in stages after that.

Director of Thonburi Hospital Dr Wachirabun Sasatrawuji said that a million people had registered to have the vaccine of their choice.

A bit late isn't it? October + next year

  • So by the time a first dose of Moderna is available in Thailand, the rest of the world will be getting their 3rd dose boosters offering better protection against the strains of the virus now present i

Lets hope the price does not change, as it has already gone up since the initial announcement.  Planning on using my local private hospital for a vaccination now instead of the ridiculous Government apps and websites that keep being locked off or better yet just canceled.

So if you don't make the 4 million queue cut  in October, a flight home may be necessary........

Inflation is raging... ????

it would rather be 2mln patients, as 2 shots needed within weeks.

I would also think, that many those, who are having now sinovac, will be desperate for moderna sometimes later.

They are in risk groups, or at least know how to jump waiting lines

For me, much cheaper than a flight Stateside for two "free" jabs.

Cannot see how this is "news" if not coming for 4 months.

Once the Moderna is actually in Thailand and ready to be administered ....

then it is "news"

Well, it's a little bit better then the COVID-19 tests... I saw one private hospital doing the test and a "COVID free" certificate for 3000 Baht ... I was quoted $2.50/test if I bought a batch of at least 500 the same test from the producer...

Are these being donated by The West… I know big program about Western Countries Donating Vaccines to poorer countries

I’m not waiting who knows when I return to USA tomorrow

I might be wrong, but pretty sure 2 million people have already registered. So this years allocation is gone.

Where are people registering for the private hospital dose?

More pointless posturing and garbage to make it look as if something is being done when in reality people continue to get sick and die needlessly because of the government's inexcusable failure to act decisively and effectively. If the bloody website ThailandIntervac.com : The Office of International Cooperation, Department of Disease Control ,Ministry of Public Health Thailand actually worked then there might be some hope, but it is, as usual, another poorly constructed and useless bit of digital nonsense that is not fit for purpose and reflects the utter lack of competence or professionalism that we foolishly continue to hope for from those 'elite' brainiacs who 'run' the country

I live in a small town about  150 kl north of Chiang Mai. You would think my local doctor would be able to order this vaccine without traveling so far. This is 2021?

Considering the Pneumonia shot and booster a year later would cost you more than that, I believe the price is reasonable, that and if they do arrive in October which is only a few months away, might be one to consider, providing that they haven't put any chips in them ????

Better late than never, and once the private hospitals get a taste, you can bet that it will become more accessible rather quickly.

I seem to recall a similar article back in December or January announcing the price they would charge for private vaccinations. Sweet Fanny Adams came of that announcement so I wouldn't hold my breath, clutching 3,800 Baht in my hand, waiting for this to materialise either.

Curious asks...for what?

  • Popular Post

As far as I know, there is none of that particular vaccine in the country and will not be for a good while, so its all rather academic. I imagine that most expats will have found a way to get AZ by late this year, early next and so the private hospitals will have but a  few who will take it up.

If the expected date is October, then you can kiss this entire years tourism income goodbye. No way to know if 2022 will be any better. Let's face it, TIT.

Not really, it's just four months away. Nothing really.
