A Thai woman on Facebook posted that she didn't see a problem after she had put a picture of herself posing with a marijuana plant online.

Her mum told her she shouldn't but hey, what do mothers know....

Within no time she had a party of five Narcotics Control Board and police officers beating a path to her door with a warrant, and evidence of that picture and chat, reported Daily News

It cost her 50,000 baht bail and a subsequent fine of 15,000 baht in court.

"When I post pictures in future I'll think" she lamented. "It'll be a costly lesson to me".

Thaivisa notes that while certain regulations regarding marijuana have been lifted in Thailand many strict laws remain for the unwary.

We also advise to always listen to mother.....

No she won't, she will do it again as she will forget, and as time has shown again and again, and stupid is as stupid does, history repeats itself.

What crime did she commit? Maybe a dumb question: cops here seem to arrest folks and then figure out the charges (thinking of that bridge club). Couldn't be harming Thailand's image. If anything, it would enhance it.

She should have said the picture was taken in Australia, and it was only eucalyptus leaves. it worked for the Thai version of "The Joker" with his insane rictus grin, fake Phd. and fun lovin crew cut.

So is taking a picture with a marijuana plant illegal or was her growing a marijuana plant illegal?

Especially when they advise/force you to go to Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok to find "work" and send her money back each month...

You mean those charges that were all dropped when it was confirmed that those involved weren't gambling as first reported?

The link refers to "possession" and the place seems to be her home, the photo was probably just helpful in getting the warrant issued.

The approach to law enforcement in Thailand really is so upside-down. Major crimes go unpunished, major issues such as road deaths go ignored as people continued with flagrant disregard for the law, assault is dealt with just at 500 baht fine.....  And a girl taking a photo next to a plant gets 50,000 baht bail and a 15,000 baht fine.

Thailands priorities are completely inside out and upside down.

 Guilt by Association...

No-one on here has questioned how the police discovered the photo. Are all our FB posts being tracked? Been plenty of reports of arrests over time of brain dead idiots advertising 'questionable' goods or services, or setting up road races.

This woman didn't get find for appearing in a photo, she was fined for possession, cultivation, etc. The Photo just led police to her.

Appearing in a photo next to Marijuana is not a crime.

The clue is in the OP title "after posing in picture", not because of

Someone grassed her up ????

And she probably has her FB settings to public, rather than just "friends".

maybe she 'took a leaf out of' someone else book' - and never gave it back ????

Yep. Finally nailed them on not paying tax on some deck of cards I think. Sheesh!

This is great advertisement for Anutins planned marijuana tourism industry.

Its so baffling!
