PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) Chief Dr Kusak Kukiattikoon has confirmed that the Phuket Sandbox tourist now confirmed as infected with COVID-19 was already fully vaccinated with Sinopharm.

However, Dr Kusak urged the public not to panic over international arrivals bringing the virus to Phuket.

“Worry more about domestic arrivals,” he said.

“The other 13 passengers on the flight have been considered high risk and taken to quarantine at an alternative local quarantine [ALQ] venue for 14 days,” Dr Kusak added.

All the passengers of the entire flight are now under quarantine.

Why would anyone jump through all the hoops and risk coming here for a holiday?

What about the crew?

The crew stay on board for these flights which are typically triangular routes. So off to BKK shortly after landing in Phuket and then back to Dubai.

Tested on Saturday and did get the result on Tuesday night ??? This means that you

are locked up in your hotel room for 3 days.

Maybe they should be using the new testing equipment developed in Western Australia which only takes 30 seconds to annualize if you have covid-19 already being exported to European countries.

Why the good doctor has to disclose which vaccine the positive case patient was inoculated with so long it was approved by Thailand for the CoE.  What happen when it was a Pfizer vaccine?

He had been fully vaccinated with Sinopharm in October-November last year,” Dr Kusak said.

On 14 September 2020, the United Arab Emirates approved the vaccine for front-line workers following interim Phase III trials.[47] In December, the country registered BBIBP-CorV after it reviewed the results of the interim analysis.[33] In March, a small number of people who have reduced immunity against diseases, chronic illnesses, or belong to high-risk groups have been given a third booster dose.[106] In May, due to concerns about effectiveness, Bahrain planned to give a third booster dose to some groups at risk, and the United Arab Emirates extended its third booster dose to anyone who had received the second dose more than six months ago.

Wonder if he got that 3rd dose?  And if Thailand should require a 3rd dose of Sinopharm for a COE.

Tourists having a vaccination, mostly having the lower efficacy Chinese jabs, will not prevent them from getting infected by the locals. The extensive testing regime performed on this select group of people is bound to uncover more cases as they interact with the population in Phuket, and may be kept quiet as it will make extremely bad headlines. This fellow brought it with him.

I wonder if this unfortunate tourist is now forcefully detained in a Covid hospital, field hospital, room, or other quarantine facility, at his expense, spending his Phuket sandbox holiday separated from his family or travelling companions alone until he recovers.

with his family friends and everyone on the plane

Nope, rubbish reporting as usual.  Only in this story was Saturday July 6th.

In the meantime they corrected it:

* Correction: The man arrived on Tuesday, not Saturday. Our apologies. The error is regretted.

Some may have fallen for the propaganda spewing forth from the usual sources.

On Qatar air arriving to Phuket on 1. July I saw the crew leave the airport and probably go to some crew hotel for the night.

There was also a passive crew as passengers to fly the aircraft back to Qatar.

But of course it could be different for Emirates Airways.

He shouldn't feel bad.  He is mandated to have Covid insurance so it's not out of his pocket.  But his 14 "travelling companions who have been rounded up and forcefully quarantined?  I bet that's on their own dime.  What a vacation.  Anyone who doesn't game these possibilities out in advance shouldn't complain when they find themselves incarcerated in a high price hotel room watching Netflix and eating junk food left outside their doors for 2 weeks completely ruining their vacation.

He and 14 others are stuck in an expensive quarantine hotel.  They've requested to leave and go home.

Horrible vacation.

Side note, Singapore has stopped recognizing Sinovac as a vaccine for entry.  Sinopharm wont be far off.

Plain Junk!

The Phuket sandbox is an experiment, and as we all know, more experiments fail than are successful.

Phuket may continue for a while, but Delta and Lambda may cause it to become a failure.  After all I do not

think of India, or Brazil and Peru to be COVID success cases, unless you are the virus.  The pandemic continues...
