Pattaya – The elderly, people with vulnerable medical conditions, and market workers in Pattaya were vaccinated against Covid-19 last week after 1,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine was delivered…but as the program still moves on at a leisurely pace, to say the least, residents and business owners concern is growing.

On Thursday, July 8th last week the elderly, people with vulnerable medical conditions, and people in high-risk clusters from local markets were vaccinated with the Astrazeneca vaccine was a total of 1,621 doses at the Pattaya City Hospital. The majority of those vaccinated had previously registered to be part of the vaccine program in Pattaya, although the market workers were expedited due to being part of a high-risk sector.

The Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplume personally inspected the vaccination program at Pattaya City Hospital.

The Mayor told The Pattaya News “Of those 1,621 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, 1,007 doses were for people who had been previously registered via the ‘Mor Prom” application while 614 doses were given to vendors and staff at local markets that have been identified as extremely high-risk locations for Covid-19.”

“The vaccination campaign is currently centered around controlling the spread of the  Covid-19 virus at roughly 20 markets in Pattaya. Today, we had people from four markets which were the Nong Ket Yai Raiway Market, New Market Naklua, Amorn Market, and the Lan Poe Market.” The Mayor explained.

“On July 13th we will receive more vaccines for people working in about 16 markets in Pattaya.” The Mayor added, without stating the exact number of vaccines expected.

Indeed there is not much covid crossover from the locals to the foreigners in Pattaya. And that is so since many foreigners have no inclination whatsoever to assimilate into the local community for many good reasons.  And that for some baffling reasons seems to upset and draw out of the woodworks some of these foreigners who criticize these self segregated foreigners. IE. They don't ever learn to speak Thai and so on ad nauseam.

I've given up on any hope of nite life in Thailand being back to "what it used to be" before I'm too old to enjoy it, so I'm getting rid of my Thai baht before it crashes. I'm not planning to go back

I can't be the only one that thinks like that.

Can say that again.

Pattaya will never be the same again. Once the virus is controlled, Govt departments have to look at how bars have started to operate in the last few years. Many many freelancers, who customers pay their wages through high drink prices, don't have Social security because the bar owners say they are not employed by them. By law if one person works for you, you have to register for SS payment. The greed of many girls who just want money and not pay SS has backfired on them. Now they have no cover whatsoever.

They're still freelance, just not in front of bars.

l have questioned for a long time why markets are still open. No control what so ever. Out of town vendors and buyers mingling with locals. ?????????? A real breeding ground for the virus!!!!!!!

How contagious are open air spaces?

I really don't think that it will .

The adult scene had been in decline even before covid .

With internet dating , webcam chats  and porn available online freely , I dont think theres much much need for girly bars anymore

Not greed just human nature. They support their families in a way the government won't.

Government does it way smarter than the girls do.

The girls get paid to get effed....

The Government gets PAID to eff us all!

Not just Pattaya but many holiday destinations world wide will never be the same for years.

Of course Thailand has the extra burden of being run by a bunch of greedy no nothing morons so add another 10 years.

Not a chance. This government, and most Thais want rid of the sex-tourism industry.

It's almost gone in Bangkok bar a couple of places and so it will be in Pattaya.

Not yet for expats.

Not even for high risk expats.

When for even high risk expats in Pattaya?

Who knows ?   We are not even allowed to register -- unless you prepay at a private hospital for some unknown future date.

If you wanted to make things as worse as possible, follow the Thai model. Close down country and inflict max pain a year before the virus even hits. This ensures every small business owner is completely wiped out even before arrival of the main spreading months. Then, when everyone is devastated, fed up and poor, the virus sweeps the country.

perfectly played.

Exactly right.

This is a myth. Since we have this government very many new bars opened in Pattaya. Soi LK Metro, very many in Soi Buakhao, Tree Town and other areas. Even now they build new bars for instance in the Tree Town area - one even with a big pool. Pattaya is what it always was - mainly a huge red light district and not a family resort. The new government even extended the opening times of the night venues years ago. And the new tourism minister even wants/wanted to extend the opening times much further.

Pattaya is gonna become “digital” to a much greater extent. Seems very obvious to me. I’m sure it’s already happening.
