Government critics and opposition politicians are campaigning for people impacted by COVID-19 and the associated restrictions to sue the state for compensation over the damage caused.

They say the government, particularly Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, should be held responsible for the worsening epidemic and Thailand’s shortage of “quality” vaccines for mass inoculation.

Prayut and his government are being blamed for the ongoing outbreak of the highly contagious Delta variant, which saw daily cases top 9,000 and the daily death toll surpass 90 for the first time last week.

Prayut responsible, dont be silly, he is the most irresponsible clown in the country. Only thing his is responsible for is stuffing as much cash in his over seas accounts as he possibly can.

When you're the top dog there is no one else to blame.

Maybe the Shinawatras? The Black Hand? Foreign governments? The CIA? George Soros?

It appears the government is full of compulsive liars !

Hot soup, I think they meant sweet and sour soup.  Sweet as the pockets of the great PM and his cabinet are filled, and sour as in the taste of the whole vaccination program and responses the Thai people and all foreigners are tasting.  Again my view.

Denial means the story is the truth and deflections are needed.

I assume the government likes hot (and spicy) soup like the rest of the populace.

An authoritarian regime rapidly losing any remaining authority. Can't last too much longer.

When The People cease to tremble and start to laugh or get angry, the end is nigh.

And all the blinkered people thought the forever extended "emergency decree" was brought in specifically to control the spread of the virus.

The alternative is another military govt that may even be worse and more dangerous.

Zero chance of free and fair elections.

Very sad and difficult times for LOS.

Yeah, but, this government is here for a long time I think, no matter what anyone thinks (constitution, senate, destroy opposition, ...)

But, you never know, maybe as I type this, there are, somewhere, smoke-filled back-rooms full of (capable) plotters .

This govt has the full backing of China it isn't going anywhere soon.

The PM, like all good military men, is just following orders... puppet government. It will change when he gets the memo from above to do so.

Yet oh so predictable since 2005.

SOUP !!??   Hell no

Call up the highway repair department and have them melt me a hundred kilos of Tar.  If someone would be so kind as to pluck me as few chickens??

End of opinion section.

Indeed.  If they all went tomorrow, who would replace them?  A band of 'politicians' pure as the driven snow with only the public interest at heart and zero interest in lining their own pockets?  In Thailand?  Dream on!

The vaccine soup they are serving the public regarding getting a jab of the good stuff is (drum roll) Som thyme

I very much doubt those in charge could actually make soup, that would be useful in a crisis

A must have on their CV for anybody applying for a Job

"Talking about privilege is demoralizing."

said Defense Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich

A classic quote coming out of the military jetting off to the U.S.A. story, ostensibly for Cobra Gold preps, but said to be getting vaccinated.

Vaguely reminiscent of that Hawaii get-away a few years back.

DEFENSE SPOKESMAN DENIES SOLDIERS FLY TO US FOR MRNA COVID-19 VACCINES

BANGKOK — Defense Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich denies the ministry has any policy or privilege to fly soldiers to the United States to be vaccinated with mRNA vaccines.

The denial made on the phone Monday morning came after some accused a group of soldiers who have been pictured at Suvarnabhumi International Airport check-in counter of flying to the US. Koncheep said 114 army officers who left Thailand late last week were part of the annual Cobra Gold training exercise.

If the Thai people do 'boil over' it will not be like Myanmar because of the number of guns in the hands of non military Thai people. Also how many of the Thai military conscripts will support the army?
