INN reported yesterday that there was no truth to the rumor that 114 soldiers pictured at Suvanabhumi Airport were flying to the USA to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Deputy army spokeswoman Colonel Sirijan Ngathong said that the soldiers were going to Fort Bragge in North Carolina where they would undertake parachute training.

This was in preparation for next year's Cobra Gold military maneuvers.

Sirijan said they would attend the training from July 10th to 26th. They had all been vaccinated in Thailand and would comply with all Covid regulations in the States including Swab tests and military training quarantine.

She also responded to reports that 109 soldiers flew on expensive, undiscounted tickets on Korean Air saying the 70,000 baht roundtrip tickets were paid for by the US Military.

The soldiers were vaccinated with Astra Zeneca and Sinovac jabs, not Pfizer she added.

Neither Sinovac or AZ is approved for use in the US. So what were they vaccinated with?

Will their jump wings be different to the jump wings that every other Tom, Dick and Harry with a uniform in Thailand seems to have?

Doing what they want and spending taxpayers' money while the country suffers.

Total contempt for everyone except themselves.

North Carolina where they would undertake parachute training

Can they not fall out of a plane over Thailand to 'practice' ?

I would expect them all to be young then.... was that the case?

Maybe they just had a delivery of new Chinese parachutes ?

Again, would a "Thank you" be too much to ask for?

And while you're there, maybe a vaccine?

Not explicitly going to get vaccinated, but you know it'll be an option for them, especially with the inventory overflow stateside now.

FDA approval for vaccines relates to those vaccines used within the US, it doesn't mean that only those vaccinated with the US FDA are considered vaccinated!   The soldiers would be undergoing testing and quarantine on arrival anyway.

Bigger, shinier, and worn on everything including their dressing gowns!

I must confess that I can find no training or operational benefit whatsoever for either party, in flying a company group (at the US expense) to the USA to train as paratroops, when Thailand has all the kit and experience ( judging by the proliferation of badges) to do it themselves...

Same with the British government here. They spend more tax payers money and their time helping the dead to get home then they do looking after the living.

Never understood the obsession with getting a dead body back 'home'.......they are dead?

It's a supposition.   Military joint training, or LE joint training isn't all 'work and duty.'   There is off time.  And off time is pretty much whatever you want to do.

I really miss my frequent trips to Nellie AFB just outside Las Vegas paid for by the UK taxpayer.

So the US Army is going to bring a bunch of soldiers from a country being overwhelmed with Delta variant who have only been vaccinated with vaccines that fail to stop its spread. This, after the DoD closed down an aircraft carrier because of Covid. You're nutZZZZ.

What's that got to do with your earlier assertion that they'll be able to be vaccinated on the US dime (even though it was categorically stated that they've already been inoculated here)?  You said...

Thailand is far from being "overwhelmed" by any variant.   Have you ever looked at the US's Covid figures?!

By the way, none of the other vaccines can guarantee to stop the spread, either, unless you believe that no vaccinated person in the US has been infected!

If they say not in Thailand it means they did/do.... went to the US  for a jab and in the meantime they do some parachute jumping. As there is no quarantine in Phuket and no lockdown in Bangkok

"You're nutZZZZ".

Careful with the personal attacks.

So it's true?  <laughs>

Thailand must not have a tale like the little boy who cried "Wolf."
