IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Vaccinations available for Australian nationals in Thailand

The Thai Government is offering Australians the opportunity to be vaccinated with AstraZeneca at 1pm this Sunday 18 July at SCG Headquarters in Bang Sue (Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/dFRM8oycooZTtQJW8).  Please note – this is SCG Headquarters in Bang Sue, not the Bang Sue train station.

Register via this link: Sunday 18 July: COVID-19 vaccine for Australians - Bang Sue, Bangkok

Australians wishing to be vaccinated need to register using this online form by 10am Saturday 17 July.  Australians who registered with the Embassy for priority access to vaccines last week will automatically be included and do not need to register again.

We cannot accept late registrations so please get in early.  If you know of other Australians interested in being vaccinated, please pass on this message as soon as possible.

Important: Doses are limited and there may not be enough for everyone who registers. Those who are successful will be contacted.

This opportunity is available in Bangkok this Sunday only.  You will need to make your own travel arrangements.  We do not know if there will be other opportunities in other locations.

The US Embassy is right behind.....far, far, far, far behind. So far you can't even see. Close the US Embassy here...complete waste of money.

I disagree. Your negative comment is shortsighted. Contact the Embassy and voice your displeasure.

So why would I fly all the way to Bangkok and risk 14 days in a hotel than fly home and risk another 14 days for a AZ vaccine, when I could get the AZ vaccine here.

Canada got the same invite for these spare vaccines. They are "limited".  The ThailandIntervac site has only Phyathai 2 Hospital and MedPark Hospital available for expats to register (60 years and over) . Of which last day for Phyathai 2 is today (July 16th) and they only allow 100 per day (500 total).

I expect the sudden offer from Australia and Canada embassies is extremely limited. Maybe 50 each?

To me, this is an attempt by the Thai government at appeasing the Ambassadors and to make a photo opportunity to show the world 'Look we vaccinate foreigners' when in reality the situation is desperate for foreigners especially those that those that don't have work permits

that leaves 2h 15 minutes to wake up, have a breakfast and log to forum, to find out, that deadline is missing.

And for those lucky registered but living away from bangkok, it means to start their journey tomorrow at 4am, in order to arrive at 1pm and rush back home before 9pm curfew.

How hundreds, possibly thousands, can be vaccinated at 1pm at the same location?

How they suppose distance themselves from the crowd?

It's not compulsory.

And going to bangkok on short notice won't suit everyone.

Just gets yours where you live.

Well it's about time as Australia donating millions of doses of vaccines to several countries time they give a hoot about their own people stranded overseas and dire need of the vaccine...

no chance of that ever happening

they're too busy trying to make it as difficult and expensive as possible for people to fly home

The UK governments response to do the same is basically met with the response that the NHS does not treat people outside the UK.  But it would seem that they did send vaccine to Australia back in April which again is contradictory and a damn lie again.

I registered for what it's worth. Most likely very little.

When you register you don't get a confirmation.

It's more that they will contact you back "if your successful'. They mention 'limited supply's.

My guess will be the Thai gov has set aside X amount and that will be very limited.

BTW can't see staff sending out emails later today. Saturday!

I would not want to walk by hundreds of elderly Thais at Bang Sue Central station to get a vaccination that they probably should get.

A new walk of shame I guess.

Yes, I am aware that the Australian government, and many others, have made significant COVID-related donations, no strings attached.

It is also interesting that they, and others, are moving so quickly, almost haphazardly. The specter of their citizens getting ill is probably prompted them to do something, anything.

Well some of that vaccine was sent from the UK via the back door into Australia.

That's exactly what it is.

The gf just asked me if I'm going Sunday.

My reply......Yes I applied for registration but it's all BS.

They most likely have 100-200doses.

The AU ambassador looking for a "do something" photo/video release.

As I previously stated.....why weren't Australian Permanent Residents invited to participate in this roll out? Australian Permanent Residents are residents of Australia, pay taxes in Australia on all applicable income until retirement age, when they then become eligible for the Australian Aged Pension and they also pay and participate fully in the Australian Medicare Scheme (Australian Health Scheme) whilst employed. The Australian Embassy has discriminated against their own Permanent Residents by not including them in the roll out.
