The Royal Thai Navy has stated today, July 17th, 2021, through a spokesperson, that they are moving forward with a controversial plan to purchases two submarines from China.

The Navy has officially submitted a proposal this week to the parliamentary budget committee considering the fiscal budgets for the 2022 year, which if approved, would give final approval to the purchase of the submarines.

Protect the country from who?

  • Popular Post

So now, after 70+ years it's "their duty".

Honestly who do they think believes this rubbish.

submariners were on the outs since the Manhattan Rebellion (1951), and only with a successsion were they allowed a new toy.

Now they're making up for lost time. And appear to have no shame as the country they have sworn to defend is swirling down the bowl.

There is only one reason for this - to create a budget that can be manipulated into #######

Why Chinese - becuase they allow flexible budget management

If he doesn’t stop the purchase let’s hope the budget committee can put their heads together and come up with 1 functioning brain so that this nonsense stops.

Meh. Caving now would be a sign of weakness. And he already thinks he's the hero.

No, they'll just push this forward, but keep the orders on the books.

But the folly of purchasing submarines now is not inspiring confidence in the public.

Will go well with that missing aircraft carrier that has no planes on it !

Would love to see the threat assessment and war plans that call for submarines as the answer. Amphibious assault, off-shore pounding from destroyers, submarine warfare, protecting vital shipping channels, drug interdiction? Who is attacking? Why subs vs. surface ships? Where do the subs hide in the shallow Gulf in such scenarios? Who has ever threatened Thailand by sea? No military credible reason for this deal but we all already know that.

Somebody in the high military position and a very high politician are making millions off this deal why don’t they forget about the submarine and order some vaccine so the people in Thailand and the foreigners could be vaccinated TIT
