The Royal Thai Navy has stated today, July 17th, 2021, through a spokesperson, that they are moving forward with a controversial plan to purchases two submarines from China.

 

The Navy has officially submitted a proposal this week to the parliamentary budget committee considering the fiscal budgets for the 2022 year, which if approved, would give final approval to the purchase of the submarines.

 

According to Admiral Chettha Jaipiam, a spokesperson for the RTN, the purchase is part of the “duty” of the Royal Thai Navy to protect the country.

So now, after 70+ years it's "their duty".

 

Honestly who do they think believes this rubbish.

 

submariners were on the outs since the Manhattan Rebellion (1951), and only with a successsion were they allowed a new toy.

 

Now they're making up for lost time. And appear to have no shame as the country they have sworn to defend is swirling down the bowl.

how about coast guard ships and search and rescue helicopters instead of this total nonsense.

You can ram the subs up your but with so many needy Thai's suffering surly the funds should be allocated for there benefit. Pull your heads out of the sand and look what happening in the real world.

Would love to see the threat assessment and war plans that call for submarines as the answer. Amphibious assault, off-shore pounding from destroyers, submarine warfare, protecting vital shipping channels, drug interdiction? Who is attacking? Why subs vs. surface ships? Where do the subs hide in the shallow Gulf in such scenarios? Who has ever threatened Thailand by sea? No military credible reason for this deal but we all already know that.

 Somebody in the high military position and a very high politician are making millions off this deal why don’t they forget about the submarine and order some vaccine so the people in Thailand and the foreigners could be vaccinated TIT

Such pointless toys serve as Viagra for the insecure generals (admirals?).
