Yep, there we have it again. Likely!? Guess work at it´s best, or have you been attacked more than once. Maybe have experience of thousands of such guys with Thai nationality? Right dude!

I've seen several, but I avoid myself to get involved in any kind of conflict with Thai males...????

Yeah, but that's Scotland. It's not like it's civilized or anything.

What do you mean? Of course it's civilized. Any criminal in any European country would attack a Japanese or Chinese man with a camera.

You know what I think. I think you just read too much news, and suddenly believe that the ones behaving like that represent the majority. That´s the scary stuff here.

That's the problem with forming opinions by reading the news.  They rarely report on normal people just living their lives.

Scary stuff, Thais usually to react that way even the worse of them, that guy must have been really peed off seeing someone filming him...

He was on drugs, ice or Yaba most likely.

Totally rampant in Thailand.  Police are the main distributors in and around our area.

Totally addictive.  They'll do anything to get the stuff.

Dont risk your life trying to be a hero.  These drug addicts are monsters.

Usually! Do you have much experience? Do you personally know many Thais that react the same way?

Possibly he was referring to criminals rather than the average man in the street.

Welcome to the forum, with an attitude like that I'm sure you'll make many friends here ????????????

Your sarcasm is well used. Bigotry is the order of the day among many of the forums denizens.

So who will pay the expat his medical bills?

In cases like this the medical expenses are sometimes classed as void if the culprit hasn't got funds to pay or they remain on record incase his situation changes.

Brave action trying to help in this way, but lucky boy that he’s not seriously injured.

Brave is one thing and smart is another - Hopefully he will consider to change address after his braveness as he has obviously not learned much during his 2 years stay in LOS ....

So looking at the policeman with the weapons I am hazarding a guess here that fingerprints are not used in the investigation process.......:whistling:

You don't need fingerprints with eyewitness testimony. Saw dirtbag with knife arrested same. Done. Don't watch so many crime dramas.

He has initially been charged with damaging a police vehicle as evidence is gathered and further charges could be lodged today.

Huh? No charge for assault? The knife attack was so unimportant and insignificant?

It's going to take some time to get witness statements and look at CCTV of the attack.  In the meantime they need, and  have, something to hold him on.

OH! Wait! It was the Scott's fault all along for filming a Thai without proper consent!

Yes in a way, but for sure not really clever.......

My experience is that I over more than 10 years in Thailand many times confirmed that the news control how people see the world. We all know that if you read things  too many times you start to believe it stands for the majority. In reality the bad things you read about does not even represent 1 %.

If it now is like you say, that you seen a lot. Yeah, it´s probably same there. First it seems like you happen to be where it happens, and then you chose to remember the bad things you see, and forget that you see more good things. It´s a common reaction, but you have to remember that you should see the light instead of darkness.

So, then most people are criminals? Is that what you say? Or how did you read it?

My wife and I were once set upon while driving M/C on a dark jungle road at 11pm, 5 men jumped out from the trees waving bars and a machete, we were very lucky it was only the bike that got hit as I managed to drive off, very long story cut short, the only charge they got was damaging the M/C.

When the police graciously arrived NEXT morning, they found the weapons dropped on the road and did EXACTLY as in this photo, PICKED THEM UP With bare hands without a thought of finger prints. The perbs were construction workers from a neighbouring country and only 2 got deported. The locals were very supportive when they heard about this (it was the first time anything like this had happened on that road and they had families that lived on it), and a few times after, the local security bloke would escort us home from the village even in daylight. RTP stop destroying evidence with your ignorance JEEZ.

I'd leave the camera in my pocket and walk on by... not you business.

Certainly not worth being attacked for.

I agree.

But I've been guilty of trying to "save" the day also.  Only to be admonished by my wife saying, "Stop it, he might have a gun".

So you left the taxi driver to the mercy of the pair and drove off? Though your Mrs is probably right.

No it was cooling down when 2 others approached.

Glad you're okay.

That would freak me out!

I'm frightened enough when a dog runs out at me when I drive by on a motorcycle.

Just to say I have NEVER been so scared, got home and was shaking while trying to phone the Tourist Police who never answered "Line busy, line busy"
