Wrong !

Its in all the British papers and on the BBC.

Thailand for a number of reasons , some of which cannot even be mentioned , has been getting bad press for some time over here.

This horrible crime simply reinforces that negativety.

The murder was mentioned very briefly about 2 hours ago on cable station CNA - Singapore news.

Investigated ...... certainly ...... along with anyone else who may be a suspect, which could include any of the 3000 tourists on the island, plus the local Thai people.  Calling in to the nearest migrant camp and arresting a worker with scratches on his face should just be part of an ongoing investigation.  For the police to say the investigation is over at this stage is very odd.

He may have immediately confessed to the crime , knowing he will have is jail term cut in half .

Its now been suggested that the man is Thai and not Burmese .

Will you change your mind now about his guilt ?

Nope ...... still too soon to conclude the investigation.  If the suspect has scratches, then perhaps they can be matched to DNA from the fingernails of the poor victim ..... but that takes time.

And I'm not convinced that an alleged confession is necessarily evidence.

They havent tried and convicted him yet .

He will still need to go to Court .

The Police are satisfied that they have caught the perpetrator and he will have his day in Court

No, its the same guy .

The Police didnt state his Nationality

A Tweet stated he was Burmese .

Now its been suggested that he was Thai .

Although there has only been one suspect all along , just confusion about his Nationality

RIP to the lady and my condolences to her family and friends. Horrible news.

That's a major blow to "Safe and Trusted Thailand", to have a murdered tourist on their hands after merely a month and among a group of just about 15,000 tourists in total.

If all the Burmese migrant workers are "bubbled and sealed", they might actually have to arrest a Thai for this crime this time around. Hopefully they'll make a sincere effort to find the real perpetrator(s)..

Could it not be a holidaying falang, why must it be a thai or migrant worker

There goes the Phuket sandbox project thanks to this Thai guy!

If he was a foreigner, at least the government can give an excuse that they can't control foreigners but not when it's a local Thai.

What is the sentence for a murder charge in Thailand? Would anybody just confess?

Death sentence. But no actual executions since long.

I don't know whether confession earns him life sentence.

In the end the same result except a moody person show thumbs down and the execution is performed (a surprising single case in 2018 first after 2009).

And the 2009 double execution was for drug trafficking not murder!
