Pattaya, Thailand-  A major fire broke out last night during mandatory Covid-19 curfew hours at a closed nightclub on Walking Street in Pattaya, causing an estimated millions of baht in damage according to fire officials.

The fire took place at the Nashaa nightclub, located on the South end of Walking Street near Bali Hai Pier at about 9:30 P.M. on Sunday evening, September 12th.

There were no injuries reported from the furious blaze although a significant reason why is due to a current curfew from 9:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. due to Covid-19 related precautions in Chonburi. Additionally, nightclubs and entertainment have been closed for over five months in Pattaya by mandate to “prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Over ten units from local fire departments were dispatched to fight the inferno which could be seen from several kilometers away and was widely reported over social media, with many residents concerned about the source and ferocity of the fire.

Certainly seems to be a mighty amount of mysterious fires in businesses with no income that have been pandemic shuttered.

Now they are praising the lockdown for saving lives whereas the lockdown was a significant reason for the fire in the first place as there was no one in the building to put out a small fire that became a big blaze, or there was someone in the building secretly lighting the blaze. Either way, the lockdown was responsible.

The timing was perfect for a person to descretly light a fire and leave just before curfew started at 9PM.

I got this a few hours ago. I thought it was the Beer Garden

The article says Nashaa nightclub?

That was the big indian club at corner of Soi 16.

Many years before there were three Gogos  (Boesche, Katz and ?).

Ah, was it called Covent Garden up there? I have good memories of visiting those places .. the other one was X-Zone.

It looks like the fire is at a building by the sea. So can it be that one on the corner of Soi 16?

Can you imagine had the fire was to happen in the good times where thousands of revelers milling about and many staff sleeping in the club like they used to in the good times?...

As are the Insurance Agents. 'Loud explosions' caused by party poppers?

Flood through the place a few days before.

No surprise the power would still be connected.

Water and electricity, recipe for fire.

Did walking st flood? usually doesn't go that far

This corner is close to the beach. Maybe 80 to 100 m and much bigger and higher than buildings on the beach.

The Nashaa Club is on the water-side of Walking Street, about 60 meters past the soi 16 intersection.

There is an Uzbekistan restaurant on the ground floor.

Take the insurance money and run!

don't run yet! Sell the cleaned- up area (as promised) to a Chinese buyer first and then...off with the poor fire victim

Apparently broke out on an upper floor, but we had heavy rain that could have got in there.

I have a shrewd guess.

Careless staffer sleeping in the bar... cough cough.

How can fire insurance a non existing building?

I bet no licence, no insurance.

Would not surprise me if there were not a few more fires on teh water side of the street.  Nashaa is a test run.
