Thailand on Sunday recorded 12,353 new COVID-19 cases and 125 more fatalities from the pandemic in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

An additional 14,305 new recoveries from the coronavirus epidemic were reported, while 3,324 COVID-19 patients remained in a critical condition, health officials said.

Sunday's figures bring the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Thailand since the start of the pandemic to 1.56 million and 16,268 deaths.

The news comes as Thailand has begun accelerating the vaccine roll-out as it aims to reopen more tourist destinations, including Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Chiang Mai, to fully vaccinated foreign visitors.

The reopening plan was postponed last week because the target regions' vaccination rate was lower than the required 70 percent threshold. Plans for parts of the country to reopen to vaccinated foreign tourists will go before the CCSA for approval later this week.

As of Friday, Thailand has administered more than 48 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with less than 25 percent of its total population having been fully vaccinated.

Also, on Friday, Thailand administered more than one million vaccines, the most vaccines administered in a single day since Thailand began its vaccination campaign.

The Thai government aims to inoculate about 70 percent of its nearly 70 million population by the end of this year.

Phuket Opinion: Enough rope

PHUKET: If anyone was still looking for evidence that the COVID infection figures provided by some officials in Phuket were not adding up, this past week – not once, but twice – they have had that evidence served to them on a plate.

Plenty of suspicions about the veracity of the figures published each day in the daily COVID situation report for Phuket have been abound for a long time, yet this past week those suspicions were confirmed by none other than the official reports themselves.

The numbers just aren’t adding up, and yet it is not surprising anyone. All this harks back to “Patient 26” last year, for those Phuket readers who remember.

It sounds like the Phuket numbers are not accurate, but the error bars are not that large.

don't be silly, why would they do that ? - give me 10 good reasons why they would lie lol

Don’t confuse ill intent with normal errors in tallying numbers from 77 jurisdictions.

Must be too much good news around today with the successful one million vaccine rollout on Friday and the continued reduction in new cases/ deaths, so back to the accusation of lying and massaging.

Just curious if you're willing to take a bet on any of your rosy predictions.

It doesn't have to be monetary. Q simple I was wrong admission will suffice.

What the rosy predictions made months ago that the country would be opened up and fully vaccinated by the end of the year whilst some were predicting another year or more.

I saw on the thread about the 1 mil jabs a poster saying his appointment and 100's of other peoples appointments were cancelled for Tues and pushed to Friday. Guessing at the place of vaccination this also happened for those on Wed and Thurs. This can only be seen as manipulation to get their fantastic 1 million in a day number.

I believe you'll find that it was 'tourists' in sufficient numbers who wouldn't be arriving for a year or more.

Yes you saw one guys opinion among others who say their appointment was actually bought forward.

Not an opinion. A real life experience. Big difference. If you are calling the poster a liar I suggest you go to the thread and share your 'opinion'.

Damn the Phuket News for that, imagine exposing the massaging of figures, how dare they.

more good news on the 7 day avg death number.

sept 10:  221

sept 17:  172

sept 24:  127

today:  125 (edit, this is a one day number not the 7 day average)

next two weeks will be very interesting.  will we get below 100/day or will the relaxed restrictions lead to a higher number.

More hearsay abounds, can you details those predictions to give a little perspective? Preferably with evidence not hearsay

It is not a seven day average number of deaths, the 125 were those that passed away yesterday, now if you meant the numbers of those dying is dropping everyday then you would be correct, yet every now and then the numbers do tick upwards just like those either taken off a ventilator or placed on a ventilator.  True the trend seems downward but it no way in reality shows the true numbers of actual cases unless you just want those tested and admitted for treatment.  ATK case positives do not get added to the actual case totals even though they will be self treating at home with medications given to them by the Government.

Not seeing any of the regular posters on this specific OP posting on that OP except for maybe 2 that posted, and nowhere did they agree with what the doctor said.  So try again and please stop trolling and trying to bait folks.
