The number of tourists coming to Thailand will be miniscule, for the time being !

I have to admire your optimism Sir, definitely a glass half full man.............Diminutive and insignificant also come to mind.

Perhaps you could ask a friend to enquire for you.!

Strange response, you were the one that said: "Think any folk planning a return to work would be well aware of the need for vax and set to go by now."

So I presumed you knew what you were talking about, but obviously not.

I do not think. Classic sex tourism in Thailand was dying before the pandemic began. <snip>

As I said, I have no issue if it dies a natural death. My point was it didn't stop, nor will it stop, tourism before Covid and in all likelihood it actually to some extent helped.

Closed to sex pests.

You have every right to your opinion. Frankly, whether entertainment venues are open or not, is of no concern to me. But realistically, what is Thailand well known for all over the world and what was the attraction for a majority of tourists? I suggest that the authorities step up their efforts to promote a new Thailand. the competition will be fierce, there are beaches all over the world, italian, french, indian, chinese, vietnamese cuisine is quite palatable. And there are temples, churches, museums in other countries as well..... Is it bad not to cater to sex tourism? I don't think so. But Thailand should be prepared to live with less income from tourism.

Your last sentence.

Probably yes they are. How 'hands on' they will be in taking care of and making sure what they offer is another point. Making up lovely stories is fine if what they advertise actually exists.

That's going to go up like a lead balloon. Places of entertainment closed??? So what is the point of this announcement? It's certainly not going to entice any tourists. The next announcement will be all tourists will have to join the monkhood for fourteen days on entry.????

the coffee shops are still open

For every Neon lit farang style bar there are a hundred Thai bars/karaoke joints / brothels , its an embedded part of the culture.

If you really live in Thailand you must lead a very blinkered and sheltered life.

But that isn't plastered all over the press in the west because there is no interest in it in the west.

And it has nothing to do with the tourist industry.

Why would tourists come if all nightlife - bars and clubs and entertainment venues are closed.
Their own country is open in all regards so why come to Thailand for a holiday when you can’t even have a drink anywhere while on holiday.

it’s not a sensible idea of getting tourists as tourists work hard all year in their country and want to let loose it relax and enjoy themselves so why would they come to Thailand when nothing is open ? sounds boring !

I really dont understand your point. Are you simply embarassed that the ' folks back home ' know you live in a ( mostly thai driven) sex hub ?

Better tell that to the people who use Thai friendly and meeting apps.

Supply will always meet demand.

This forum never lets me down on how out of touch some posters are with reality.

You do realise that the biggest market for prostitution in Thailand is Thai to Thai?

You’re right I think. I was in a hotel in the NE a couple of nights ago having a beer at 1800. There where 3 young ladies in Pyjamas having dinner with their minder. 3 Thai guys turned up. Minder collected the cash and so to bed.

Another penny pinching hero who is going to help the Thai's depending on tourism.

Let them starve as long as you can boast of your WOKE credentials.

None of you so called tree hugging do gooders don't realise the whole infrastructure of parts of Thailand will fall apart to be bought for cents on the dollar by the Chinese.

The very country that couldn't care less about environmental issues and will create casino cities where the tourist hubs used to be.

Of course, there won't be so much as a cheep out of you when that happens.

You have every right to your opinion...... If the Chinese or the martians buy up Thailand, there is nothing I can do. If the Thais want this, so be it. No more tourist hubs, but casinos....? I guess you're a foreigner just like me in this interesting country and therefore you certainly realize that our point of view do not make much difference to the thai in charge....

And should the Thais decide to go all in again with mass tourism to the tourist hubs, then so be it as well.... As to penny pinching hero, I applaud you for intensively supporting the tourist hubs.  To es h his own (after all Thailand is the land of the free). And no, I have no credentials of wokeness whatsoever.

Times they are a changing, many more of the beautiful Isaan Ladies are meeting suitors on line and inviting them straight up to Issan ????

Expect a small part of Pattaya/Bangkok/Phuket will remain attractive to stag parties, but are the high milage options as magnetic to the visiting males as they were before 'Isaan lovelines'

Unbelievable.

With no nightlife mass tourism will not happen however that might suit some people I guess.
