The post was deleted because your headline said "no drinking until January" but the content of the article said nothing of the sort.

It said that the CCSA will discuss the possibility of opening bars when they meet again on Friday.

It also said, totally unrelatedly that they were concerned about gatherings and new-year countdowns.

Stop spreading misinformation.

Whilst I should have titled it "possible no drinking until January" the article included the following :-

"However, at the meeting of the Ministry of Public Health today (9 Nov. Y. 64) there were discussions about the measures to open pubs, bars, karaoke, entertainment venues after the new year 2022, which this issue will be proposed to the Prof. meeting tomorrow (10 Nov. Oh, my God. . 254) for further consideration of the approach. "

You stated the article said "that the CCSA will discuss the possibility of opening bars when they meet again on Friday"

With these clowns in charge anything can happen, I wouldn't hold your breath on Dec 1st, I like everyone else want to get back to a normal world here but it wouldn't surprise me if they pull a stupid stunt and keep us, Pattaya, closed.

Just to add, I was hoping for Nov 15th.

I hope they open on Dec 1st but comments from his highness telling establishments to "stop being selfish" don't bode well.

If they don't open bars/clubs until after Christmas then they should put up a disclaimer on the Thai Pass system saying so. (tongue-in-cheek)

But isn't the news outlet that put the article out well known for spreading misinformation?? ????

Not saying it isn't correct but let's just wait til after this meeting, especially considering the source

I read the post you made several times and didn't see the underlined part. As the post has now been deleted there's no way of telling if it was there, and I missed it, or it wasn't there at all.

Anyway one thing we can all agree on is the hope that the information is wrong and we won't have to wait that long ????

Here's the translated text

Yep I agree. I'm going in December to hook up with family and I'll be mightily peeved if I can't get a "legal" beer in a bar.

Do TQ's Agogo on Beach Rd in Pattaya know something we don't?

Last time I looked, Thailand was set to reach 70% vaccinated by late November, so they should allow bars to open on the 1st December.

That said, the Delta variant has seen many countries opt for 80% and above before opening up.

They should keep Alcohol banned forever. It is the Devils drink and is consumed by his minions. No good will ever come from it if allowed again.

They're not all locked up yet.

I am surprised the response on here has been so restrained. It took me and a few I know in the bar business completely by surprise. This will do Phuket the world of good and be a further blow to Pattaya.

Stating the obvious there I know, but I do have difficulty believing what is going on. No feel for Pattaya as it is now, I am still shaking my head. Metaphorically of course.

It’s obvious to all foreigners that the government wants Pattaya to collapse so they can ‘try’ to turn it into something new. You can go to a restaurant or a bar in Bangkok, Phuket and various other parts of Thailand and enjoy a drink while on holiday  but not Pattaya and why is that ? the government want it gone, no more, it’s over 100%.

This ‘maybe’ a good thing but it depends on what they want it to become. From what everyone says on various posts they want only Chinese and Indian tourists markets and probably have a few Chinese casinos thrown in  but the Pattaya it was is done and dusted. It was getting pretty seedy anyway.
Unfortunately a lot of restaurants and  hotels will go under as no tourists will come.
What tourists go for a holiday where there’s no nightlife and no alcohol ? Not everyone drinks but while on holidays most people love to have a drink, go out and socialise but everything is closed so why go there, neighbouring countries will be delighted I reckon $$$

I must admit, I was also surprised by the announcement.

All sorts of conspiracy theories being put forward, and I have given them some consideration, but I really am starting to think that the Thai government knows their real vaccination percentage, and it may be nowhere near what they have been saying in the media.

Or, they have opted for more time to get to 80%, and possibly 90%, especially with Delta, and any other variant that may be just around the corner.

Same here. As a MURCUN, I was hoping to bring the wife down to BKK to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and mashed potatoes, not to mention plenty of requisite BOOZE, at a particular pub.

At least in Bangkok you can get alcohol with your meal. And it's too difficult to get alcohol without one!

OK I get your point, although I love the Thai people, and accept that the vast majority of them are decent, trustworthy and honest.

Though unfortunately, these are the same people responsible for Thailands dreadful road statistics their lack of intelligence affects us all and not just on the roads.

Sorry about that, but I just want you to see where I am coming from.

Most of their problems stem from lack of education , not only in schooling but in areas such as road traffic training , a highway  code , no proper driver training , plus of course the government do little to patrol the highways nor do they televise road safety tutorials .

On average 5 children drown a day in Thailand . That is avoidable by teaching kids to swim , however where I stay there is not 1 school with swimming facilities .

So I repeat , I Q should not be confused with a lack of education which seems to be the case in Thailand .

What? No mention of lifestyle choices and the deeply ingrained cultural mores that spawn the likes of kriengjai and other handy excuses?

I recall a Thai survey in the early 00's that had the average IQ at around 85 and on average 10% of the population was considered 'medically retarded'. This rose to about 16% in the poorest provinces in Isarn.

The education system is the biggest hindrance to Thailand above and beyond any other factors.

If that is the case, it probably goes a very long way to explaining why some foreigners find Thailand so attractive, are compelled to settle down here and then while away their days complaining about it all.

Yes the beginning of the end for Pattaya. I feel sorry for the younger guys now, all the best places have gone.

The 'younger guys' have been avoiding the place since forever already.

The good old days were from 8th August 1977 to 3rd April 1991.

I would suggest those clinging to their memories from the most recent 25 years will eventually get over it after their mid-life crisis passes. Of course some won't.

And for those in double figures who still haven't attained escape velocity, I can recommend switching to shots.

Well, they do continually change the goal posts here, but then again, it really is 3rd World governance, for a 3rd World country.
