The sale of alcohol continues to be prohibited at restaurants in Hua Hin.

On Monday (Nov 15), Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced that it was further easing restrictions with regards to the sale of alcohol in restaurants in the capital.

Since Nov 1, restaurants in Bangkok with an SHA certification have been able to serve alcohol to customers until 9pm.

Who are we to argue with the brilliant common sense and reasoning of the MBA? their premise is that when people get together to drink they somehow infect each other, and when they gather elsewhere like at work, markets and public transportation they don't?...

What a disappointment for the 8 tourists.

And they are probably teetotal otherwise they would not be here given these petty restrictions!

Beer does not cause Covid. Neither does wine. But, prohibiting acholol sales does sabotage an industry and contribute to the continued destruction of the nation's economy.

Nobody has ever defined the danger of alcohol intelligibly, as it related to Covid. I can understand crowded bars, and clubs, where you have to shout to be heard, and in the process you release alot of spittle. But a restaurant? Why? It only appears to be an additional hardship for hundreds of thousands who are only trying to make a living, and patrons who are only trying to let off a little steam and enjoy some much needed recreation. In addition, it stifles the effort to bring back tourism. Who wants to visit a prudish nation, where fake puritans, who consistently deny science, are in charge?

If anything, allowing drinking in restaurants brings down the national crime rates! At this time, the nation would really benefit if there were some intelligent and compassionate adults in the rooms, where these decisions are being made.

Woe is Thailand with leaders like Prayuth, Anutin and Phiphat. Where do they find these clowns?

Hua Hin...going back to the temple for everyone.

"Where do they find these clowns?".......They don't need to find them, they're everywhere!

Hua Hin. The 2nd pilot caliphate in Thailand.

And they wonder why no real tourists go there.

Plenty of establishments have been selling alcohol throughout the entire period.

plan vacation in december  hua hin or samui but if no drinking and nightlife  i should choose samui really ...

Plenty of booze available and served in the restaurants we frequent in Hua Hin. The cops have turned a blind eye until  curfew time as they know these businesses need to make a living.

Yes I have colleague who lives in HH, he tells me alcohol freely available,  he goes to a bar for Pool competitions, I believe the bar is owned by a Policeman.

Some Bars and Pubs near Soi Binthabat open and selling alcohol. Also in Soi 112 and Soi 94 Some Restaurants selling Alcohol. I guess if you support someone then you can do waht ever you want.

Yes in most developed countries there likely is no alcohol restrictions, but countries that are developing or third world

have different restrictions.  Does not make much sense to most of us, but then again we are not Thai.

Geezer

And kudos to them. Defiance in the face of nonsense, and the denial of science is a great thing. Civil disobedience is what is needed at this time, on such a massive level, that the goons will not know how to handle it. However, this kind of defiance takes alot of anger and are the people there yet? They certainly should be, unless you have an entire nation with a martyr complex.

during the hard lockdowns in Europe back in 2020, sales of alcohol went to the roof, everyone was doing happy hour on Zoom calls starting at 2pm :p

good times :)
