PHUKET: A killer out on bail for shooting dead two rival motorbike taxi drivers at Phuket Bus Terminal 2, north of Phuket Town, in January has struck again, shooting dead another motorbike taxi driver at the interprovincial bus terminal late last night (Dec 4).

Police were called to the bus station at 10:30pm, where they were shown where the victim, Champa Wanchan, 54, was shot dead while sitting in a white plastic chair in the parking area for motorcycle taxis.

By the time police arrived, Mr Champa had been rushed to Mission Hospital Phuket, before being transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

working as a taxi motorbike isn't all peaches & cream you know,  it's fraught with all kinds of danger.

Aside from the insane bail decision, no mention of the son being arrested in relation to this latest killing? According to the press report he was there with the father and involved to the extent of telling witnesses what to do.

A killer out on bail

3 cheers for the Thai "Justice System", hip hip hooray!

The article says that "Vean had been released on bail so he could prepare his defense, despite already having confessed to the killings".

With this kind of justification for release, I wonder if they also released the murder weapon to him for the same reason. Wouldn't put it past them...

He killed 2 already , did some jail time , was allowed to roam the streets again , may be even got his gun back ...?

Now he shot and killed another one , one more ... ?

Very intelligent to let a dangerous killer out .

May be , this time , he does a Wai and promises not to do it again , as punishment ?

Everybody can make a mistake , but only stupid make the same mistake again and again ...

Sitting on the back of one being the major danger.

Will the judge who let him out on bail also be charged?

Probably already let him go again as he had already posted bail.

Unbelievable 'till i realized i'm in Thailand. he has now killed 3 people, the latest one with his son in tow, and still allowed bail.  Jeez WHAT ! His son is also complicit in murder ! Is he teaching his son to take over the murders ? HE'S a SERIAL killer for gods sake ! Lock him up !

Yes, at least in the US they have to pay $1,000 bail before they get to kill again

That is one mad moto man! Why was he "out on bail"??? No priors...other than the 2 murders?!? But don't sell a beer in your restaurants. Typically Thailand!

“…many of the people at the bus station described him as ‘a nice guy’…”.

Yes, yes he seems ‘very nice’. How many people must he kill to be considered ‘not very nice’?

This is why murderers need to be executed.

No, this why people who have already confessed to two murders should not be allowed out on bail.

I’m not sure which is more frightening, being shot at by a motorbike taxi driver or being driven around by one!

Fine him 20,000 baht for not wearing a mask, you know, just to show that justice is being applied.

Shoot and kill 2 people and get out on bail so you can kill again , put 3 fingers in the air and ask for democracy and reforms put in jail whit no bail , I can feel the happiness Prayut have bring to the country amazing Thailand.

No, there are other countries in which the same thing could have happened also.

I think they were referring to the victim, although it is poorly worded

Bail can, in certain circumstances, be granted to those charged with murder in the UK, US and  European countries also!  "Hip! Hip! Hooray!" for their justice systems also!

Don't think he's been found guilty of any murders, yet, has he?

Only after they're been convicted, though, and, so far, this one hasn't been.

He has not been found guilty of any killings yet, he was on bail in order to prepare his defence to the first charges, so he has not "done any jail time and subsequently been allowed to roam the streets again".
