Tourism Ministry Launches ‘Thailand Trusted Destination’ Campaign

Krabi (NNT) - The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has launched the “Thailand Trusted Destination” campaign to raise the nation’s tourism standards. Visitors can now look for venues and attractions bearing the campaign’s dancing elephant logo. The logo certifies attractions that meet the standards promoted by the ministry.

 

The Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports took business operators on a field trip to Krabi province to observe venues and attractions certified under the Thailand Trusted Destination campaign.

 

The campaign was introduced as an incentive for business owners to improve their services and boost confidence among tourists. Participating venues will be granted the dancing elephant logo, which represents cleanliness, safety, fairness, good management, and green practices.

 

During the field trip, business operators visited Krabi International Airport, which has been certified for toilet cleanliness; Laemsak Community which was certified as a community-based tourism attraction with historical value; and Than Bok Khorani National Park, which has been certified for its success in environmental conservation and tourist safety.

 

Visitors can search for certified venues and attractions on the website www.tts.dot.go.th, or on the Thailand Tourism Standard Facebook page.

Absolutely need to kill off dual pricing under this campaign ... they are already touting "fairness" as one of their pillars, but it needs to translate into a single price.

If something is worth a dollar, it should cost a dollar, regardless of whose pocket it comes out of.

Trust us. If you are a foreigner, we will charge you 10x what a local pays, for any national park, museum or many other attractions. Trust us. We are consistent.

My family and I were travelling with some friends recently (I was the only foreigner).

 

We travelled out to a National Park... I didn’t think anything of it until we returned.

I assumed we’d simply not been charged the entry free.

I later found out that the the Thai’s with whom I’d been travelling were so embarrassed at the ‘double charging’ they’d paid my 5x National Park fee didn’t tell me. 

 

Ironically, the last time I visited a national park I’d paid the ‘Thai Price’ with my Pink ID card.

As others have written - Thailand does not do what is says on the tin....  

 

i.e. it makes promises of trust - but state sponsored dual charging indicates very very differently.

 

The recent case of the Hua Hin expat who was double charged for his cancer treatment indicates very very differently.

 

Thailand - You have a LOT of work to do if you are ever to accurately use the word ’Trust’.

Are you aware how expensive "dancing elephants" are now on days? Of course someone need to pay...

 

 

I'm not sure that foreigners will like a "dancing elephant" as logo, many are told to avoid that kind of attractions where animals are used to entertain tourists, including riding on an elephant...????

 

(For the matter of good order, the image here is not the logo, it's just an elephant dancing...????)

I imagine the first thing any tourist will be looking at is can Thailand be trusted no to change any entry requirements or add additional hurdles to entry ! Constant yoyo'ing is a trust issue now - a far larger issue with tourists than they think it is and this trust issue will keep tourists away in droves until this mad government sticks to something and stays with it

A trust destination with dancing elephants???Never saw an elephant dancing and the trust... with so many changes every time, the alcohol restrictions, the vaccination problems, and so more... I don't know if we can talk about trust..

Conclusion: Any airport in Thailand that has not been awarded the Dancing Elephant Logo (DEL) does not have clean toilets.

 

Does the same hold true for hotels, restaurants, etc? Should I cancel my reservation at the Oriental hotel because it does not have the DEL?

Participating venues -----etc, elephant logo which represents cleanliness, safety, fairness,

good management and green practices. I have found that over the last 20 years of living here that the majority of "participating venues" would struggle to achieve more than one of services let alone all five!!!!

A dancing clown would have been a more appropriate logo  anyone who wants to come here must be suffering from a mental deficiency.

Just look at the new rules for restaurants in Pattaya, talk about shooting the tourist business in the foot, yet again.
