  • Almost $1 MILLION USD for the "privilege" of working in Thailand? Anyone paying for that needs a head check.

  • Do the people who have to administer this farce ever question the stupidity of their paymasters who come up with a never ending series of ever more stupid "investment opportunities" for westerners ?

  • You can work in Thailand for 490 Baht a day , after spending 32 million 1st . Great value ...

This shows just how STUPID people working to enhance Thailand are. They are the same as TAT , idiotic ideas, but instead of IMPROVING what is already here to make it better, come up with more stupid suggestions.

Congratulations Thailand is now known as a Nation of idiotic statements regarding foreigners , run by really silly people .

I cannot begin to imagine the beaurocratic paperwork that they require to even begin to apply and demonstrate the investment.

Don't worry about paperwork,an agent will attend to that for a small fee of 1 Million Baht lol.

I believe that should be "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon Brains Trust".  Do keep up!

Making gestures to appease critics of there out of date immigration system .

The people in power are worried about foreigners controlling them .

And All I need to work remotely from Costa Rica is $3000 USD per month, Duabi is $5000 USD per month. Why are thai's out of touch with what the competition is? Even the proposed bali remote working visa i think it was going for close to 180k for 4 years is still more attractive.

So far the thai one is the most greedy digital nomad visa in terms of cost.

And you may have to pay tax on the 490 baht a day job? What will they come up with next? Free education for over 70's?

I think the over 70's get the ED Visa that I keep hearing about.

What a “great” deal!

Clear that they are aiming to the very stupid super rich. Sure there must be millions of those.

Lets see I get a 5 year work permit for my 32 million ...hmmmm.  So in order for it to work I need to make 6.4 million THB a year, or around 53k Thb a month....doable but then what about taxes.....and who is going to hire a 50 something foreigner?

no thanks i will stick to the 1900 baht a year retirement extension....

Your math is wrong, it comes out to 533,333.333 a month

If I had that amount of money, why would I need to work here? This is another idea from the government that is really stupid.

It requires far less investment to just incorporate then employ yourself if you're so inclined.

But I guess if someone already bought a 30 million Baht condo and has an Elite visa already and for whatever reason wanted to take a job then the option's there.

I doubt many will bother with that route but you never know

You make a good point that it costs far less to start a company and employ yourself and some Thais. People with that kind of money are not pining to "work" in Thailand, as if they need work in the first place.

With an investment of upwards of USD 1m one qualifies for permanent residence or even CITIZENSHIP in some of the most economically stable and prestigious jurisdictions on this planet. An investment rewarded with residency rights which are valid for LIFE, rather than just 10 years, without any obligation to report every 90 days. An investment that allows employment privileges sans restrictions and property purchase sans conditions and dual pricing risks.

I use the word "upwards" above because anyone who intends to invest $1m in a 10 year visa is presumed to have liquid and disposable assets of far more than $1m. I don't understand the intracranial dynamics whirring in the heads of people behind this visa-for-investment schemes. It is extremely expensive and very very very one-sided and selfish. The investor is shamelessly urged to inject at least $1m in the local economy whilst also being reminded "this is all you get in return, mind the time limit, report back in 10 years for expulsion"
